DDP or DDE at Christmas?

I know a few posts down, someone (bless you! bless you!) did an entire breakdown of the costs of their meals on the DDP vs the DDE.

We're going Dec 18-23 this year, with in-laws and maybe parents. Then again, with my BF and her hubby in the following May, so we're very likely going to go ahead and get APs, meaning, we could get a DDE card.

Here's the quandry: I know that prices go up right around Christmas, which is why DH is wondering if we shouldn't just do the DP again. I haven't been able to figure out how much more meals go up at the holidays to figure out which would be the better deal. Mind you, last time we had the DDP, we had leftover CS and snacks because we just can't eat that much food! (That and DD11 eats like a bird. I hate paying adult dining prices for her!)

Any opinions and/or figures on which one to go with? MIL wants to start booking stuffs soon.

DDE is blacked out December 24 and 25, but since you leave on the 23rd, that won't affect you. If you are talking about the recently announced holiday dining price increases, they affect only the buffets and all-you-can-eat fixed price meals. If you plan to do a lot of those, DDP covers the price increase.

Are you planning to buy a package with tickets, and use your tickets to upgrade to APs, and then buy the DDE card? If you plan to buy the APs first, be advised you still have to buy tickets with your package to get DDP. Unless you're staying on DVC points, that is.

You situation is a tough one. Hubby and I last year bought the DDP and the DDE because we figured we could defnitely save enough just on our alcoholic beverages. It is only $60 which means you only need to spend $300 to save $60. When we have friends going with us, this isn't difficult.

They have changed the DDP so it isn't as much food as it used to be,so I would still consider it.
