we're now just waiting until Feb so we can start booking our Jan 09 trip but i thought since we are having a hard time deciding on the extra D in the DDP i'd ask you guys.

I know it's new but has anyone done the DDDP yet?

if you did the DDP in the past did you spend $40 on breakfast or wish you had an extra table credit for lunch?

I'm just trying to fingure out if the extra $40 per day is worth it. i know we'd prob go to the buffett breakfast with charactors so that's about $22-25 per day just for breakfast. so if we maintained quick lunch and table dinner we would be saving about $20 per day per person but if we wanted table lunches and dinners we'd be best getting the DDDP.

if you've already done it do you find it too much food?

did you find you had to have breakfast by 8am lunch by 1 and a late dinner so that you could enjoy each meal?

is it worth it?

No one has done the deluxe plan yet, it doesn't go into effect until 2008.

Unless prices skyrocket, we usually spend about $30 on breakfast for two adults, table service, including tip. But character breakfasts will be more expensive.

This really isn't a DVC specific question. I'm moving it over to the DDP subforum of the Restaurant board.

IMO, the DP is too much food for a several day stay. We will never use the DP for more than 3 days again. In April we are getting the DDP for 2 days and eating for 3.

I was talking to a server last trip and she told me that they can guess how many days the Guests have been on the DP by how much food is left on the plate. :lmao:

In 2009 who knows what plan will be in place. It might the DDDDP. :rotfl2:

I personally think that there is way to much food on the regular DP, I cannot imagine having to stuff into our bellys another TS everyday. Even without the appitizers, I still think there will be too much food.

We arrive early and depart late, so we divided 4 nights worth of credits over 5days. We also used a couple meals that used 2 credits. We are bringing our DGDs, so we do lots of character meals. I added up our projected dining and saved around $380 by doing the deluxe plan. That gives us 2 meals and 2 snacks per day as well as a refillable mug. That averages out to $144 per day to feed 2 adults and 2 children.

We're going to be trying the DxDDP in January, and we're really looking forward to it. We like sitdown meals and don't care for counter service for the most part, so it fits the way we travel. We're planning 2 meals most days with lots of signature dinners, and I figure we'll save about $400 on our ADRs alone without accounting for any counter service, walk-ups, snacks or mugs.

The only way I would even consider the deluxe DP is if it was only me and the wife. We would have an early TS lunch and a late Signature (2TS) dinner. It is a lot of food eating 3 TS a day. I used the regular DP last visit with the kids and had a hard time using all the credits. This included CRT and MBBQ (2TS each). CS meals were hard to use up as FW doesn't have CS and DW and the little one got sick midweek. No dining those days.

That actually brings up another good point to think about - Will you feel like you *have* to use up every credit on whichever plan you choose? I wouldn't do deluxe if I felt the need to use every credit, because we'd just make ourselves miserable trying to use them all. We're using the plan because for the meals we *want* to eat, the plan is cheaper than paying OOP. Any extra meals are just bonus, and if they don't get used, its no big deal because we already got our money's worth out of the plan. The same can be said for the regular plan - in years past, we got our money's worth on the table service meal alone, so we didn't try to cram in every counter service credit because we'd already gotten our money's worth out of the plan.

thanks for all the in site.

for us planning is part of the fun so we've been looking at all the menus and realize that there are a lot of table services restaurants that we haven't tried yet - with having them for breakfast lunch and dinner we would get to try everything we've been looking at.

there are several 2 credit meals we would be having and i guess those days we would either have a late breakfast or pay for lunch oop.

i'm still not totally convinced though - it seems like a lot of money for just meals so i guess we'll have to see what the oop cost would be eating at the same places and then just decide if we really need to eat at those places or can we settle for counter service for lunch.

the other thing we are considering is splitting our stay between 2 resorts so it's entirely possible to have DDP for the first half and DDDP for the second to try it out and see if we would actually enjoy it or feel pressured.

we had been talking about timing of the meals with a 3 year old and a 4 month old - but since they would be up early it would be easy to eat breakfast at 7.30, lunch at 1 and dinner around 7 with a snack for our oldest in between.

i guess the good thing is that we don't have to decide until we start driving down which will give us time to see how our daughters appetite progresses.

I'm doing the deluxe plan next Sep, but I plan on eating at a lot of signature restaurants, and doing two TS meals a day, not three, that would be too much.

We will only buy the DDP or DDDP on a split stay. We always use it for the first half of our stay and here's why. The credits are good until midnight of your check out day. For a 3 day plan you can eats for 4 nights. I am a big eater and I don't know how people can eat full TS for more than a few days. The biggest problem with the plans is that you spend your vacation focusing on eating. I guess if you are on a eating vacation that's OK, but I am on a Disney vacation and I would rather spend my time enjoying Disney. I can eat at home.
