DDP Opinions

I am tempted to purchase the DDP, but want some opinions.
DH and I think that we'd use the "snack" for breakfast, CS for most lunches and have a few nice dinners. We don't plan to go to the restaurants that are "signature" or whatever they call it- where you use 2 dining credits.
I know we'll still have to buy our own beer (which we love- they need a beer dining plan!)
Do most of you feel that you get your $$ worth? Can you order anything off the menu from the sit down restauants? I would hate to be paying slightly over $100 per day and then be limited. $100 per day sounds like so much.... But then I think that we could easily spend $80 on a dinner- with no apps or dessert and I reconsider.
We like to eat- but don't want to feel like we have to stuff ourselves silly just to get our money's worth!
This has probably been talked to death already in other posts- but I'm new.
Thanks so much!

This sticky has most of the information you're looking for with regards to what you can order. In general, the limitations are generally quite few, and mostly related to Downtown Disney locations.

Your general plan of snack for breakfast, CS for lunch, and TS for dinner is sound, especially from a "value" proposition. I personally do think the DDP is worth it, when you consider that the OOP cost, after tax, for a CS meal (without a dessert) is about $11-12, and an average sit-down dinner would run $25-35 per person. Even on the low end there, you'll break even (plus get the CS dessert!) once you add in the snack. So, I think as long as you're not the type to go for the cheapest thing on the menu, then plan pays for itself easily.

We get good value out of the plan, but it just depends on how you actually eat. Go to allears.net, they have all the menus and you can price it out to see if it makes sense for you. Keep in mind how you actually eat, not how the DDP wants you to eat.

I see by your trip ticker that your trip is in a couple of weeks. If you haven't already made an ADR for a TS each night you are there, you might want to check first and see what is still available before you add the plan. There might not be availability at the places you want to eat which might make the plan less attractive.

Hope it all works out for you. Have a great trip! :)

If you have no ADRs and can't get ones for each night, you may also want to consider the QSDP which allows a resort mug, 2 snacks, and 2 CS per day.

For the regular DDP, if you are worried about too much food, using snacks for breakfast is good, sometimes you can get fruit/pastries for dessert and use those for breakfast...you can also split CS meals....so for breakfast you split one and lunch you split one and then you would still have your snack later

Just made an ADR at Chefs de France. Yum!
So, off to a good start. Quick question- I'm assuming that they serve adult beverages here- I don't see a list?
We have 2 more nights to book (plus one out-of-park night that we arrive on.) Definately considering the Biergarten, Le Cellier, Rose & Crown, the Coral Reef (not sure on that one..) and the Brew works on the boardwalk (looks fun!) Any suggestions welcome.

Le Cellier might be tough to get an ADR at. I would also check out the reviews on Brew Works. Allears.net is a great site!

If you have trouble getting those restaurants on short notice, try The Wave at the Contemporary Resort or Kona Cafe at The Polynesian Resort or the Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian. Good beer at all three (try the organic beer flight at The Wave...DH liked it!) Chefs de France carries that French beer (starts with a K) - DH liked that, too. All Disney table service restaurants carry adults bevs except Magic Kingdom (as the waiters in Cinderella's castle will tell you, it's a very "dry" kingdom)

I went for it and added the DDP to our reservation. Then, I got lucky and was able to make ADR's at our top 3 choices (we wanted some variety!)
Thursday: Dinner @ Biergarten
Friday: Dinner @ Marrakesh
Saturday: Dinner @ Chefs De France

Now to figure out what the best quick service lunch spots will be and we're all set! We're flying in on Wed the 1st, and don't want to make a reservation because who knows about delays, etc. We're very tempted by The Wave, but doubt we can get in with out a reservation...

You may want to program the ADR line's number into your cell phone; then if you want to call for availability on your arrival day, you can do that once you know you'll be able to make it.

Better yet, make the ADR if you want it, and then just call to cancel it if there's a delay or if you're going to be too tired.
