DDP only available on reservations through Disney?

If I have a resort reservation through Orbitz, can I add the dining plan to it? If free dining drops, can Orbitz add it for me or do I have to cancel my Orbitz reservation and rebook through Disney?

Nope. Orbitz is a reseller, and their room reservations are considered room only reservations, not packages. If you want the dining plan at all, much less free dining, you'll have to book through Disney (you could book via a travel agent, who will book on your behalf through Disney, and get a package, but not through a reseller.)
