DDP is this allowed

We have the QSDP for both of us and what we want to do is upgrade just one of us which would give 14 table service meals which we would then share giving us 7 each. We could then share the 14 QSDP meals, the reason being that OKW doesn't really have a very big counter service so a few table services would be good. I don't want to upgrade us both because we have had the DP before and found it far to restrictive and ended up using a lot of the table service meals as counter service so it would be pointless upgrading both of us and then using them for counter service (if that makes sense).

Is this allowed does anyone know and are you allowed to share the credits. Has anyone else done this?

Unfortunately not. Everyone in any one room needs to have the same DDP, so either you can both upgrade or you both have to stay on the QSDP. Realistically, are you planning to eat at your foodcourt that often? Almost all our meals during the day are in the parks or at DTD.

Thanks it was just an idea, we will be eating in the parks but sometimes if we are both too tired or just too hot we have our evening meal at the foodcourt as it's a lot easier. I don't want to upgrade us both and then find I am using half of them as counter service (which is what happened last time) that would just be a complete waste of money.

I understand where you are coming from. I prefer the QSDP as (1)being tied to 14+ ADRs is a little restrictive for me (2) I just can't eat that many sit down meals (3) I am quite happy to pay out of pocket for some TS that we would like to do - and this year the ones I have booked are not all on the DDP anyway. Most places can make a meal 'to go' if you want to pick something up on the way from the parks or better still, at Downtown Disney. The food courts usually have microwaves if you don't mind heating it up. I am a salad lover so it makes life a bit easier for me.

We're staying at okw on DDP and planning on getting boat to DTD or driving to there if we want a cs meal.

We usually use our cs at lunchtime in the parks.

Our lunchtime meals are normally in the parks or DTD, I think I will have to bite the bullet and upgrade us both.

good luck.x :goodvibes

what you could do is treat yourselves with a signature dinner or a show, theyre usually 2 credits each. That way you can use a few of the table credits and they wont be wasted. Just an idea :goodvibes

Thanks everyone for your reply's.

I suppose if I upgraded I could book the Nemo and Fantasmic packages.

I have done the Hoop de Doo and wasn't really that impressed with it. I did think about booking the Yatchsman which I may do if we upgrade. The thing is I am a really plain eater and neither of us are big dessert eaters we normally have a dish of fresh fruit as a dessert on the cs meals, I know when we went to the steakhouse at the Contemporary we only had the entree.

Our thinking behind upgrading was that we could have a few table service meals at Olivia's if we wanted to eat before we went out or wanted to stay at the resort for the day.

I'm still not sure that upgrading is going to work, it would be good if we could just upgrade a week of the holiday but it appears to be upgrade all or nothing.

Before you upgrade, make sure that you can still get reservations at this late stage. The US public free dining offer opens up next week and you may find some reservations hard to acquire. I suggest making reservations before upgrading because if you can't get them and then need to downgrade back to QSDP there may be an amendment fee - especially since you are so close to departure.

Thanks :goodvibes I have been looking on the website tonight and it seems okay at the moment but obviously from what you have said that is now going to change. Jeez I should have stayed at FQ it would have been a lot easier. ;) TBH from what I have read I don't think we would have many problems getting a table at Olivia's but it's the rest of meals that we might have problems with. I will sleep on it tonight and if we go ahead then I am going to have to book some tables tomorrow.

As a party of 2 you may find it slightly easier. We are also a party of 2 and I can't say I have had as many hassles as some have reported. I suspect a lot has to do with the fact that you can sit at any sized table (they usually pull apart/push together). I made a reservation yesterday evening - less than 2 months out - and I still fiddled with dates and times because I couldn't make up my mind and every single time I put in new details it churned out a selection of options. I hope you get all that you want. It also depends where you want to eat.

It may also be worth popping onto the sub forum on the restaurants board for reservations. There are threads announcing cancellations for the various months to try and help others by co-ordinating or advising of cancellation times and dates. Worth a shot. :goodvibes

The DP is good but like you say, it can be restrictive which is what it sounds like it would be to you if you upgraded both of you - is there any reason why you're not willing to just pay OOP for the few table service meals you'll be taking?

Now that you mention it, I kept QSDP but I am paying for 7 OOP meals. (I have $25 gift certificates for 2 of them so with 1 adult and 1 child it significantly cuts the cost). However, the first 5 meals with the totals added together still cost less than upgrading us for 2 weeks. We still get to keep the extra snack per day plus our refillable mugs (which we DO use a lot) and if we decide to cancel a TS for whatever reason, we aren't left with nowhere to eat.

Just another thought Cazzie, but if you have TS meals by upgrading, you still need to eat at the parks or other resorts anyway, as opposed to your intention of having the flexibility to come back to the resort if you feel like it. I am assuming you don't want to be eating at your resort TS more than a handful of times during your stay.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I have upgraded to the full DP today and have made a couple of reservations and I am having a look at doing some more. Luckily I have been able to book some evening meals which I don't mind last time we had the dining plan all our reservations were about 2/3pm which is when it became a pain.

Good for you Cazzie. Enjoy. Maybe you can snag a few breakfasts too so that you have some evenings "free" if you want to. :goodvibes

I am a tad confused - as OKW is classed as a deluxe vacation resort - normally the full DDP is offered free with it and not the QSDP.

We go in October and have the full plan - I thought that was standard with this resort - QS tends to be with the moderates.

Who did you book with?

I am also aware that there is no decent CS at OKW so like someone else mentioned a short boat trip to DTD means we can visit Wolfgang Puck Express - a favourite for CS! Earl of Sandwich is also great for grabbing something to take back.

We were upgraded from POFQ and so therefore only had the QSDP and as the counter service at this resort is not very good we have now upgraded to the full DP. I didn't really want the full DP as I don't like too much planning but it looks like it might work out.

Ahhh I had wondered.

We absolutely loved Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge- I would recommend trying to get that for a reservation one evening - after you have been to Animal Kingdom - nice and easy to get to from there and we thought the food was amazing. We paid OOP last year for it as we were on the QSDP at POFQ.

My daugheter is the worlds biggest stitch fan so we also do a Lilo & Stitch breakfast on the first morning of our holiday at Polynesian - after you are done you can get the monorail straight to MK or Epcot.

I'd try and get adr's for the parks you are in.

First time we did DDP we did that or meals in resorts nearby our park of the day and it never felt a hassle to get to a reservation.

Also whilst breakfasts are not good value on DDP they do leave you with the day free. I've read breakfast at Olivia's is supposed to be good.

We will be using some for breakfast at Olivia's, I will have to look at the menu for Boma. I have booked all evening meals and I have a couple for Le Chef's, and then one for 50's Prime Time, and Le Cellier. I also have MNSSHP and Wishes Dessert party so trying not to go on overload. We will have a few TS meals at Olivias on the nights we are not going to the parks (which I won't book as it doesn't seem so busy) and of course DTD.

The problem we had last time with the DP is that we normally are at the parks in the morning and then back to the resort for the afternoon and then back again in the evening and the only bookings I could get were for the afternoon. This time being able to book it yourself through the internet is a lot better I am able to see what is available and so far every meal is an evening one.
