I want to know why the DDP list is more limited for DVC members than regular guests? I went on the DVC site since we are planning to use the DDP for the 1st time.

Example of some that are missing off of DVC, but are available for regular guests:

Chefs de France
Nine Dragons Restaurant
Restaurant Marrakesh
San Angel Inn Restaurante
Teppan Edo
Tokyo Dining
Tutto Italia Ristorante
Yak & Yeti™ Local Food Cafes
Yak & Yeti™ Restaurant

Downtown Disney® Area
Cookes of Dublin (L,D)
Earl of Sandwich (B,L,D)
Wolfgang Puck® Express (L,D)
Planet Hollywood® (L,D)
Raglan RoadTM Irish Pub and Restaurant (L,D)
Wolfgang Puck® Cafe

Does anyone know why this is?

There's no separate dining plan for DVC. The dining plan offered to DVC members is identical to the one offered to the general public. There's no difference in the list of available restaurants.

The restaurants you've listed are not owned by Disney, and their participation in the dining plan has to be re-negotiated every year. As such, every year there's a period of time where those restaurants aren't on the list, and people get upset, thinking they're being dropped. And every year, all the restaurants re-up and re-appear on the list.

I suspect that the DVC list just hasn't been updated yet with the results of the re-negotiations. That's probably why the two lists are out of sync.

Did you look at the 2008 list from the WDW list and the 2009 list from DVC website. The 2008 dining plan is in effect until 1/11. The 2009 brochure doens't have all the restaurants as the ones not owned and or operated by Disney have to renegotiate each year.

Actually, DVC owners have a much better dining plan than regular guests -- there's no minimum stay, no required high room rate, and no required park tickets.

The dining plan itself - as others have noted - is exactly the same as everyone else gets...just without any strings attached. There is always a lag in some of the restaurants signing on, but the lineup doesn't change much from year to year when the final listing is available.

Just FYI, the info on the DIS DDP board is likely to be much more current and accurate than what is posted on the DVC site.

There was a thread here yesterday with a link to the new DDP brochure. It includes these restaurants now. It is the same group of restaurants for DVC owners. I believe the DVC site has not yet been updated, since this list was just finalized.
Have a Great Trip

Thanks, this makes me feel much better! We have never done the DDP before and I was reading everything I could last night. I have to find something to do since I can't actually book my dining until 90 days out:rolleyes:

Thanks Tozzie, JimMIA, and Hopefully for your replies as well. Yes it was the 2009 DVC DDP. I had both the 2009 DVC and the 2009 DDP for Disney Guests up last night and was comparing the 2. That makes sense about the re-negotiations (sigh of relief!)
