Hiya, we're considering adding the standard DDP on to our package for when we go next month and I'm just wondering if its worth doing?
We're staying at all star sports and will have counter service for at least 2 meals a day. I've made ADR's for 5 or 6 restaurants while we're there (we're going for 2 weeks). I'm just wondering if it works out cheaper as we'll still have to pay out for another meal during they day that won't be covered by the plan.

It works out as being the same as if you paid for your meals each time - nothing for free, unless you are going when free dining is on. However, it is a useful way of budgeting as your meals are paid for upfront. x

If you're definitely going to have 2 CS meals a day, then the 5/6 TS meals on top. I would think it's not worth upgrading. The Quick Service plan has you pay for 2 CS meals a day plus snacks, so whilst you aren't saving much you aren't losing either. The regular plan you'll pay for 1 CS & 1 TS meal a day. Whilst I believe you can use a TS credit for a CS meal, you'll effectively be paying a TS meal cost for a CS meal. Or having a burger for the price of a steak.

The regular plan only works out if you are eating at 14 TS restaurants whilst there. In your case it would be cheaper to stick with the QS plan, use that for your CS meals then pay extra for the TS meals, I would think.

In situations like this it's usually worth cracking out the calculator & doing a bit of research.

and IF the OP only eats at the most expensive restaurants (allowed on DDP) AND only eats that for Dinner (which is more expensive than breakfast or lunch)

Even doing that, the OP would be lucky to break even.

If you're sure you're ok with 2 QS a day, and you only do a few TS, it's not worth upgrading to regular DDP
If, on top of that, you plan on making character breakfast as part of those few TS, then it's even less worth it, because the value of such meal is lower than the value of a DDP TS credit.
