Planning a family vacation in March for 12 people. For most family members, this will be their 1st trip to WDW and I want to make this a very special event! We are doing a split stay - 4 nights the first week, leaving Orlando for a few days, the returning to WDW for another 5 nights (one day to be spent at SW as nephew wants to see Shamu).

Would you do the DDP for the first 4 nights or the last 5 nights? Why?

We plan on splitting up at the parks due to varied interests, but get together for dinner. Any recommendations for dinner? We have some big eaters, light eaters and some very picky eaters in our family!

Thanks for your help! :)

Either way would work well. If it was me I would base my decision on this-what time am I arriving and leaving Disney during the 4 and 5 night stays? Since you can use the DDP as soon as you check-in and up to midnight of your checkout day, depending on your travel plans, one of the stays might look better to you.

As far as dinner recommendations we now have (thanks to DDP) 2 new favorites. :lovestruc They are Kona Cafe at Poly and Park Faire 1900 at GF. Both have excellent food. PF is character buffet and the food is very good! Both of them have the added bonus of not being located in a park but are easy to get to by the monorail, or car (if you have one)

Hope this helps. Have fun! :cool1:

If I were planning on this split stay and wanting the DDP I would choose the first four days. To get the ddp you have to buy a package including dining and tickets. So you could get a 10 day MYW ticket with your package which wouldn't expire until 14 days after you first used it, so if you weren't away from WDW for more than 5 days you'd be set for tickets for your whole trip. The longer the days of tickets you buy the cheaper the days are. If you wait to get ddp with the last five days you will have to buy two sets of tickets which would be way more expensive

I would do it the first 4 days for the same reasons as shellybaxter mentioned. Also since you are a magical gathering I would use 2 TS credits and do the Illuminations dinner.
