DDP Guests Can Now Use Mobile Ordering

I haven't done the dining plan for a couple of years, but I was following this thread because I used mobile ordering last week...maybe it's an issue of getting more "value" out of it than one is entitled?

Last time I used DDP, my son was an 11YO Disney Adult. So with the new plan, he'd be "eligible" for an alcoholic beverage per the plan but he cannot legally have one. If I went to Sunshine Seasons and mobile order him a beer with his entrée for me to drink and have him drink a water, the CM never sees him. If I go up to the counter with him, it's clear he can't have an alcoholic beverage so he's getting a $3 sprite instead of a $7 beer. I'm not sure if that's what people meant because it's been a while for me using the dining plan, but that was the first thing I thought of when people mentioned gaming the system.
I understand this concept but people are assuming it's a new issue or specific to mobile ordering. My friend and I went in September and were on the dining plan and very often one of us would go to the counter and order for the both of us while the other went and got a table. I expect that the situation will be the same when I go in March with my 17 year old son. What is stopping me at that point from ordering a beer as part of his entitlement on the dining plan. The person processing my order won't see him then either.

Like I said, I haven't done the dining plan in a while but that was the first thing that popped into my head was that it would just be a little easier. If they let people do that already it's just not something I've experienced? If I went to a counter service line for my party of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids), and ordered 4 beers and the CM didn't want to see IDs, I'd say that CM should go to TIPS Training, lol! But again, I've never tried it so it may be common. When I was there last week it was a group trip, so we went to HDDR as a large party of 45 or so. We thought we got the sangria and beer as usual, but because it was a youth group, it wasn't included in the meal. We sent a dad to the cash bar to get us drinks, but he was only allowed to purchase two drinks, so maybe it varies. I would imagine that Epcot would be "looser"...

He (and others who do not drink alcohol) are also “eligible” for milkshakes and the like.

I had heard that, but thanks! I had heard about some of those new changes to the dining plan, but like I said, we don't usually do it but that sounded good! I was just using that example as an idea of how someone might "squeeze" more value out of the plan via the mobile app different from getting in line...

Nobody is gonna say hey you used a credit card so you can't have 4 alcoholic beverages. The method of payment is completely irrelevant. My question has always been why does the dining plan make it easier for a minor to obtain alcohol through the mobile app then purchasing the same exact thing with a credit card through the mobile app?

It makes it easier because you don't have your family with you in the line. YES, that has always been a possibility, but most people take their whole family through the line. With mobile ordering, they won't do that, so those who want to get MORE value out of their dining plan can do this easily with mobile ordering. If that still doesn't make sense to you, then let's drop it. It makes sense to some of the rest of us.

With all the other assumptions veing made here you're also assuming parents are providing their children alcohol

AGAIN NO ONE IS SAYING WE'RE PROVIDING CHILDREN WITH ALCOHOL. WE ARE SAYING PARENTS WILL DRINK THE ALCOHOL!!!

Do you know which QS locations in the parks (if any) serve the milkshakes/specialty non alcoholic drinks?

The only milkshakes I see are at Min & Bill's at DHS.

What do you mean by specialty drinks? Flametree has Mandarin Orange Lemonade, Satu'li has the Pandora Sunrise, Colombia House , Backlot, and Sunshine Seasons and several others have Lemonade Slushys and Liberty Inn has Frozen Coke Slushys.

Surprised no one yet posted anything like "How do I order alcohol through mobile ordering, and does every adult over the age of 21 that is ordering an alcoholic drink via the app have to show up and present ID at the pickup window????"

That will certainly gum up the works if Disney hasn't properly thought that process through. Watch for people to try and game the system immediately too.
Really? I think it was mentioned.

Used Mobile app for Flametree BBQ in AK in December...long, long line for ordering. While on the line, pulled up app, placed our order and went to the pick-up window. Easy, breezy...would have been waiting on line a lot longer...

Now they just need to get the allergy menus loaded in there...
Okay, so I would love to order on the app, but then I think about the questions that I often receive when I place an allergy order.

I know that they do it at BoG, but I wonder how that would work rolled out to all of those restaurants.

I don't see that there should be any real reason they couldn't do it the same way, especially when they have allergy menus - you click a box that you have allergies and then click which one(s) you have and it shows the foods available to order. Just like at BOG.

If your allergies are that complicated that you have to talk to someone or they elicit questions, mobile or order-ahead probably isn't the right thing for you. But if they're straightforward, I honestly don't see why they couldn't do the same thing as at BOG with the advance ordering.
