If I was to book a trip now to go to WDW in the beginning of September and then Free Dining came out, would I be eligible for it? I will definitely book the DDP for my trip, but will I be refunded or not count for it?

I'm a little confused... :confused3

Thanks!

The answer is "maybe". The free Dining Plan is part of a qualifying MYW package, which is offered with limited availability. So in essence, when it is offered, you'd have to have your reservation conceptually moved from the inventory it was originally booked from into the inventory allocated for free dining. Having a reservation already provides you no advantage in getting the free Dining Plan. You still have to call in at the right time, just like people who don't have a reservation already, and you may end up losing whatever discount you may be able to secure for your non-free dining reservation, now, because discounts are extremely limited with free dining. Also, you most likely will be required to purchase admission (even if you already have admission), so keep that in mind.

The point is that if you aren't going to use the reservation if you don't get free dining, then you shouldn't bother making the reservation now. That's, of course, not the case in your situation: You indicated that you "will definitely book the DDP for [your] trip" anyway, so booking your trip now does make sense. Just keep an eye out for when free dining is offered and call in and have your reservation switched over.

Now I have somewhat of a similar question. I am planning a trip for sometime in the value season where the free dining has been offered in the past. When I make my reservation, if free dining is not offered yet to the US public I will only be making a MYW package reservation without any dining. In other words if they end up not offering it, we will be paying OOP. If I have this reservation made (without dining), and then they offer the free dining promotion, I would just have to call and say I would like to switch my (no dining package) to a package that takes advantage of free dining? My plans are for an 11 day, 10 night so I think I will meet any stay requirements they put in place. I actually think 10 nights is the max. you can get free dining for anyway. Please let me know if the things I have said are correct....thanks.
