Our son can eat more than his sister who is five. The problem is he is short of being three year old by three months. As DVC members I thought can could just pay to add him to the DDP as long as it was 48 hours in advance. I had a CM tell me no but I thought it was kind of weird because he would either eat free at the buffets(which we are doing a few only) or we would pay for him and Disney would make some money. Has anyone had any experience with this?

:confused3

In Dec 2007 I tried to book the dining plan for my son, age 2 years 10 months. A Member Services agent told me it would be fine, but when I got to BWV and tried to pay they said it could not be done since he was under 3. I said I didn't mind paying as if he was 3, but after much checking with various people, they would not give me a children's dining plan for him.

Maybe you'll have better luck though.

We went last September and were able to book the dining plan for a friends 2.5 year old without issue.

I guess it just depends on the CM you get.

Thanks for the answers. I called MS a couple of months back and was told it would be okay because he was so close to his birthday. Since then I have called and about five times I have been told no it can't be done. I'll just keep trying.

My son has been on Adult DDP since he was 6 with no issue. We just remind the waitstaff that we have purchased the adult DDP for him and they are more than happy to oblige. My children do not like the children's menu is most restaurants so it was far better to pay for an Adult DDP for my son. He shared some of this meal with his little sister even after she began getting the child DDP. In buffets, which we are not too fond of, it would be fine because they would both choose from the adult items. But when it came down to ordering from other restaurants, her main meal was usually wasted. She would eat the salad as appetizer (if avail) and eat some of her brother's steak etc and then eat her dessert. I don't blame her, it only took my son one visit for us to realize the children's menu was not good for us. My children don't eat "traditional" children's food. At home, they eat what we eat.

Sorry, that went too long. But I guess I don't understand a problem with upgrading. When I booked my reservation, I just let MS know that I want an adult DDP for my son, and they say that they will just note on the reservation that for the sake of the DDP, he is 9. So I don't see a problem for MS noting on the reservation that your son is 3. (I suppose it would be a problem if there are tickets attached to the reservation in which case you would be forced to purchase a ticket but that is not the case with points reservations.)

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your responses. Both my daughter and son eat whatever we eat and we don't go out too much. They are not used to eating the things on the children's meal every single day. Good news though, because today the CM told me that it wasn't an issue because he was so close to his birthday. I guess persistance pays off. Now if I could only get a standard studio view for our first day on Christmas day I would be happy.
Merry Christmas to you all!:santa:
