DDP for 5 of 6 due to Special Needs?

We are DVC members planning a trip for Nov 2011. Our oldest son, who will be 13 at that time has Cerebal Palsy. He is now 100% tube fed using specialized formula. How can we convince Disney to let us only purchase the Plan for the 5 members of our party that can actually benefit instead of being forced to purchase for full family staying in unit? If we have to purchase for all no way it is a benefit for us... Our last trip he was still eating a little bit and we had a toddler, so between the 2 of them they made the purchase ok. Thanks.

I have never heard of Disney making an exception for any member of a party to not get a plan, but you should call Member Services and ask if your son who is fully tube fed can be an exception. Also, try checking the disABILITIES board.

There is also a lot of conflicting information out there about whether or not the new DVC booking system requires all party members to be on the dining plan if they are registered in the room. At least two people on the DVC board were told they could skip the plan for certain party members. At any rate, you need to call Member Services for information.

This has come up on the DISabilities board in the past.

What normally ends up happening is that they were required to purchase it, but would get reimbursed when they arrive. The reasoning behind this is so they can SEE that the person can't eat. Otherwise, they have no proof that they can or can not.

Now, this is not "official" since I do not work for Disney. I am just relaying what has been said in the past.
