DDP Exclusions

Hi,

Anyone know of any items that are excluded on the DDP? Or carry an additional charge?

Does anyone know if the 'kitchen sink' dessert can be ordered at beaches and cream?

Thanks
Andrea

The Kitchen Sink definitely can not be ordered on the DDP (even if you are willing to use several peoples dessert credits to do it). Chef Pucks Express does not include their two most expensive entrees (lasagna and meat loaf, I believe) and the surf and turf at Planet Hollywood are also excluded. At Spoodles you can no longer get the shrimp or scallop add ons and with the exception of Cap'n Jack's, lobster add ons are now excluded. At the CS in Norway you can get a cup of soup, a sandwich, any of their pastries, and a large soda, however in France you get a savory pastry (or cheese/fruit plate), a sweet pastry and can only get a medium soda. No Snake in the Grass at CG and no sushi at Tempanyaki. However, Tempanyaki did let me use my DDE card to get 20% off the sushi last Sept and still allowed us to use the DDP too. At San Angel Inn they would not let us use the DDE card along with the DDP, saying it had to be one or the other. (I don't like their food and didn't want to waste a TS credit there, but my D-I-L wanted to try it.) They refused to let me pay for my meal and use my DDE card, since my son and D-I-L were using the DDP.

Off the top of my head that's all I can think of, someone else may know of some more exclusions.

I've updated the FAQ with some of the items on aubriee's list. (Some don't apply anymore, as the item is no longer on the menu. Also, could we get a confirmation about the lasagna, because I've read a review recently that indicated it was included...) These are the other items on the Exclusions list:

Limitations/Exclusions/Observations
  • Earl of Sandwich - fountain drink and cookie for dessert
  • Tangerine - limits your dessert
  • The Lunching Pad - no dessert
  • Pepper Market - Dessert options with CS only allowed from Tier 1
  • Raglan Road - Dessert "Sampler" is excluded.

The 2007 Disney Dining Plan FAQ can be found here:

Bicker, I went to the Lunching Pad a few weeks ago and not only was the CM willing to let me get desert, he let me substitute it for the soup. I was getting sick of desert on the DDP. I noticed that the CM's were willing to let me substitute a lot of things (if they were the same price or less) with the exception of a few places. I was really looking for healthier choices. When we went to Pepper Market, they would only let us get the pastry for desert (3.50 - 4.00) and when I asked for the fruit cup instead (2.00) I was told no by the CM behind the counter, I could only get whole fruit. He told me to ask the dining room manager and she said no problem.
So, as far as limitations and exclusions, I guess it depends on the CM you ask.

Absolutely. I think the real need for guests like the OP is to understand what they might be denied. Better to be prepared than to be surprised, in that regard. By contrast, folks tend not to get too upset when are given something extra -- they like that kind of surprise! :)

So a good rule-of-thumb is to always ask, but never expect, things that aren't explicitly promised.

Yep, a similiar thing happened to us at Earl of Sandwich. Even though we were not supposed to be able to do so, the nice CM allowed us to subsitute chips for a cookie (I am a salt freak more than a sweet freak). We appreciated it, but wouldn't have been bent out of shape if they had stuck to the rule.

I can confirm that the two most expensive items at WPE are excluded. I think the two were meatloaf and tortellini.

I've never eaten at WPE, but what on earth would make meatloaf so expensive? Are they using Kobe beef?

WPE is a counter service restaurant. It's not owned by Disney and is paid a fixed dollar amount for every DDP customer they serve. I don't see meatloaf on the menu posted on all-ears but it's not so expensive rather a few dollars more than the chicken, pizza and sandwiches that are included in the plan.

When I was there two weeks ago, it was the meatloaf and lasagna that were excluded ... I don't remember seeing tortellini. And they were only a few dollars more than anything else. Oh, and you can't get bottled water as a drink (like 99.999999 % of the other CS restaurants), only fountain drinks.

We were just there this past Wednesday (12/27) and the excluded items were meatloaf and lasagna, as well as the barbecue chicken and another chicken dish. All of the excluded items were priced at $10.99 I believe.

In addition, I ordered a sandwich and chips for my husband, but when I asked if I could get a cup of soup as the side/appetizer with my Thai noodle salad, she said I don't get a side or appetizer on the plan, just the entree. Strange how the chips rang up with no problem, even thought they were two separate items (not a combo meal). And then to top it off, they were out of creme brulee, so we had to get a cookie for dessert. Plus I didn't even like the noodle salad, so I was disappointed all around with this place.

at wpc last week...the only exclusions were 2 dessert (geleato) and a sundae...as my daughter said..."the good stuff".
