Just had a thought - we don't do the DDP as we are from the UK and just love alot of the American chain restaurants that we don't get over here (Red Lobster and The Outback to name a couple!!) - Are the chain restaurants near Disney quieter when there is free dining at Disney???

I really don't know because I hate chain restaurants but I can bump this up so that someone else might be able to help you.

We stay offsite quite often and the dining plan doesn't affect the offsite restaurants at all. Mainly because even without the dining plan, most Disney guests will stay onsite the entire time. Either to enjoy the experience 24/7 or because they don't have transportation to get offsite.

That being said, because there are so many dining options offsite, we've never had to wait in a line to be seated at any offsite place, chain or not.

And this might be the only time I've ever seen someone say they WANT to eat at an American chain restaurant. Any American chain restaurant.

I doubt it affects them since off site guests cannot use the dining plan anyway and onsite guest don't USUALLY leave the property just to eat.
