We are using the DDP this upcoming April trip. I called MS (DVC Member), and finalized my dining plans, making ressie's and changing from Deluxe Plan for all four nights (two separate DVC resort stays = two separate reservations), to one night on the Deluxe plan for the first reservation, and 3 nights on the Basic plan for the second reservation.

Member Services already charged my credit card. Is this correct? I thought they didn't charge until day of arrival, or 48 hours prior to? Should I bring a copy of my credit card charges with me, so they don't charge me again when I check in?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

I would definately bring my CC receipt. Unless they have had a major computer update lately, Member Services has not had the ability to precharge DVC guests for the plans. I wonder if too many people were trying to make changes at check-in. :confused3

This is the first report we've had that MS is charging credit cards ahead of time for ANYTHING except hard ticketed event tickets and APs/PAPs (and technically, those are purchased through a different system). The usual practice is/has been for members to pay for the dining plans at check in.

If it were me, I'd call back later today and ask if/when the policy has changed. And I'd definitely bring along a copy of my credit card charges in case I needed to show it at check in.

P.S. Check to be sure the amount charged is exactly what you expected - there have been some reports of credit card theft at Disney World. I do NOT think this is what happened, but again, If it were me, I'd want to be sure.

Good luck - please let us know any about any developments.

Whoa...I would just like to know how they got your credit card number???:scared1:

I purchased the AP in the same phone call, so she had my credit card number.

And as far as credit card theft at Disney, this is NOTHING NEW!!! I was a victim in 1996. I had an opened Disney credit card, with nothing on it. I kept it for our trips. I called prior to a trip to make sure it was still open and to confirm the credit limit.

Two months later I got a phone call from an FBI agent informing me of credit card theft. It was specifically that credit card, and they traced it back to the person I spoke to on the phone to confirm that the card was open. He was working in tandem with a cc thief, who took my information and tried to get a $20,000 loan in another state in my name. The FBI was already on to her, she gave an incorrect birthdate and that alerted them to the fact that it wasn't me!

Since then, I watch the charges on my card every day. I've seen fraudulant charges (one was an internet charge, the other a haircutting place in Queens, NY, etc. etc) every few years. I now have fraud alert/protection on my card, and I've called immediately upon seeing the fraudulent charges post. I've had to cancel more cards than I can say.

So many people are afraid to use their cards online, but I was originally a victim of fraud over the phone, to me it can happen anywhere to anyone at any time.

Thanks for the information, I will call Member Services right now. Have a good day!

Oops, I'm a jerk, my mistake. The charge is for the tour I booked for DH & I while we are there! My apologies to MS - they did it right! :scared1:
