Hey everyone! I'm thinking of booking a room with a RO discount for a 7 night stay. Can I choose the DDP for only 6 nights of this stay?

no, unfortunately not, i don't believe so. if you add the dining plan to your RO reservation, it is tied to the number of nights you stay.

(tickets are not the same though--you can have just a few days or whatever.)

First of all, no you can't. The dining plans must be applied to your entire stay. If you book 7 nights, you get 7 nights of DDP, and you can't get more or less than that.

Second, you can't get a dining plan at all with a room-only reservation. The reservation must be a package. You should check and see if the discount you are speaking of applies to a package - they usually do. If you already have a room-only reservation, they'll have to cancel it and rebook it as a package to add a dining plan.

Well hmmm, maybe it's not a room only discount, but whatever the room discounts are for the select resorts for the fall. I was doing some pricing and it was letting me add a DP so I guess it's not a RO discount. I'm trying to price out FD vs room discounts plus a dining plan at a moderate. Thanks for your help!

You can have a RO discount on a package - it just discounts only the room portion.

As long as you're adding tickets to the room together, you're doing a package :D The above poster was just referencing that you couldn't have a room only reservation (just a room) and add dining (aside from a few specific types of reservations).

There's only one type of guest who can get DDP without booking a package, and that is DVC members booking through Member Services.

Everyone else has to book a package.

There are special "ticketless" packages for annual passholders and military that includes only room and dining. These are still packages and not room-only reservations.

Room-only requires first night deposit and the balance can be paid at check-in, with cancellation fees (forfeiture of deposit) for cancellations within 5 days of arrival. Packages require a $200 deposit and the balance must be paid 45 days from arrival, after which specific change and cancellation fees kick in.
