DDP and Kids meals

We just got home from a trip to WDW. It was our first time using the DDP and for the most part, I was pleased with it for adults.

The kids menu STINKS though! The choices are so limited! I also had a problem with CS meals for my DD. In the brochure, it states that the CS meal includes entree (or combo), dessert, and a drink. It also said that kids had to choose from the kids menu when it was present. Ok fine. The problem we encountered is that some places let DD have a dessert with her kids meal, and others did not.

My DD was NOT pleased when she wasn't able to get her cookie, let me tell you! I shared my dessert with her, but I think the brochure needs to be more clear and the same procedure needs to be followed everywhere.

There are already several threads about disappointment with child meals. They can be found here:

Oh sorry, thanks for those links. I haven't been a member long and had not seen those other posts.

What places did not let your daughter get a kids dessert with her CS meal? I could see places not letting her get an adult dessert if she didn't like any of the kids options, but you are entitled to a kids dessert with a kids CS meal.

Flame Tree BBQ and The ASMusic food court both told us her only option was the jello. Jello simply doesn't cut it compared to a cookie or a piece of cake, even for my 4 year old. I think it varied based on which CM was checking people out at the food court though, because a different one let my neice get a cookie instead of the jello.

Are there any CS restaurants that just don't offer kids meals? I wanted to share my meals with DS(9), but I guess that won't work out. He'll be 10 next year and get way too much food, but this year, it seems like he'll get shorted on variety except at buffets (hard to believe, but I think even he might get sick of chicken fingers and mac and cheese after a week.)

Edit: Yay! Just checked Casey's Corner menu at Allears.net and it has no child menu. Does that mean we could each get a hot dog (ie, we could split a hot dog, then 2 hours later, split another hot dog?). I'm really worried about the heat--I love to eat, but getting really full, then walking around in the heat and crowds could be miserable.

That was the context of illiniowl's question.... you originally said that they were not offered any dessert, but indeed desserts have always been offered with child meals. The threads referenced above, as well as some that got locked, hashed and rehashed the "is jello a dessert or not?" issue. And this thread specifically follows the progress of the introduction of new child desserts to go along with the jello:

Clearly, Disney disagreed, and for quite a while offered only jello in most of their eateries. They're now offering some other choices, such as pudding and a cookie, in many, but not all, of the locations.
