Traveling with another family who will be using DDP (they also have a DDE card that will take care of any alcohol, etc). DH and I have DDE card. Should we ask the waiter for 2 checks -- one for them, one for us to simplify things, espec. since we wish to charge our meals to our room? Will they do 2 checks for 1 table? Anyone done this before? Tx

We had a party of 6 at Le Cel in Sept, three separate rooms, 2 sets of 2 on DDP, one set with DDE, and we even had a pre-ordered birthday cake. They had no problem giving us 3 separate checks.

Yes. They often do two checks for one table anyway. If you are ordering something that is not covered by DDP (most things are, but there are a few side dishes/extras that aren't), they're going to do a separate check anyway.

A common example would be adult beverages, which are not covered by DDP, but are a 20% discount item with DDE. The other common situation would be some folks on DDP, some not.

Bear in mind that if they do separate checks, the normal 18% gratuity is going to be added to the non-DDP bill...whether you're paying it OOP or with a DDE discount. Watch the numbers to avoid double-tipping.
