Anyone else having a hard time deciding whether or not to do the DDP when you're going to spend a couple days doing the F&W festival? Boy I am! I keep going back and forth.:confused3

Having never been to the F&W before, I had decided yes to the DDP and made ADR's for our two F&W days in case the F&W lines were too long and we didn't really like the food. On the other hand, what if we'll have our tummy's too full of F&W to use our credits? I've got late (8 & 8:30) dinner ADR's at Teppan Edo & Le Cellier on our F&W days right now.

Any thoughts?

Hi Jenifer!

I don't think it's a waste at all. I'm looking forward to using our snack credits to sample the various offerings from the booths. That will probably be one "meal" for us. We'll probably do that for lunch one day as I'm guessing the lines will be shorter at lunch on a weekday.

I agree, I don't think it's a waste either. We planned a signature meal (Narcossees), plus one day at Universal Studios. Figured we would do a couple of breakfast QS meals, so using our snack credits at food and wine a couple of days will be prefect for us. We are there 12 nights, so that is 24 snack credits. Normally we find ourselves on our last couple of days of vacation left with 15 or more snack credits left, so like the fact that only during this event do we get to have another option of using these snack credits.

24 snacks...nice! We'll only have 5 each but it will still be fun.

I looked at the 2008 menus for F&W and I saw maybe 2 things that I would eat...I'm a steak and potatos gal so all the "odd" stuff doesn't do it for me.

I think the DDP works well for both me and for people who love F&W food. You can use your snack credits for F&W! and I'll still use my snacks for things like mickey bars!

Where did you find the 2008 menus? We are trying to get an exchange for that timeframe (I know tough exchange) and would love to know which weeks to go for!

Hey lady! It's been a while!

Okay, I'm keeping the dining plan. We're going for 6 days but only 4 days we're eligable for the DP. Two of those we're doing the F&W so I'm a bit concerned we won't be using all the credits. I guess we can use the counter service for a couple breakfasts too. Maybe we better take a break from eating F&W before we really eat!lol :rotfl2: Oh my, gained a pound just thinking about it!

I am going with my DW. She is very picky. While she will be hitting the alcohol and desserts, I am going to live a little on the edge and in the moment and try some new things. Plus, it will be neat to come back to my office and say that I ate Monfongo, Manti, Bobotie, Kefta, and Escargots knowing that no one else there has a clue how any of those items tastes....and most of them won't have a clue as to what any of the items are either.

I made the decision to buy the DDP this time because for the first time, I could actually use the Snack credits for something that would not be a waste. We will make a meal out of our credits.....well, I will the DW will most likely turn her nose up to 90% of what I try, but that's ok, I would rather pay OOP for an extra CS meal and make her happy. The point is that if you have a sense of adventure, it's worth every penny!

not a waste for us - we do the F&W booths for lunch, and always plan a TS for our dinner - best of both worlds

Tee-hee, you and your DW sound like me and my DH. I was excited (and still am) the last time we went to F&W over the alcohol and desserts. DH was excited he was able to eat snails and deer. I've had deer before (grew up on it...father was a hunter) but never snails. I did try a bite of DH's...it was too garlicy for me :scared: . But I did try it. Maybe just nudge your DW when you are eating the "exotic" foods. I mean, where else will she have this opportunity? And at least she can say she tried it.

F&W is a great place to be adventurous! DH is looking forward to the snails again, and also trying buffalo. We are going on the DDP too. I just planned on having a light breakfast and lunching at F&W, with a late TS scheduled. We will be doing this over a course of 6 days so I just won't try and stuff myself during lunch everyday.

Sure wish we had known we could use the SNACK for the F&W kiosks. Visiting 9/23-9/30 we had blown our Snacks early in the week for bread and staples for the villa. It would have sped up paying if we had used our card!

We did eat at Narcossie's earlier in the week and that meal was $200 for the "covered" portion and another 40. for the liquor & 18% gratuity. DDP and F&W fest are a good combination.
