Hi all. :goodvibes

A question crossed my mind tonight about how to go about not having the DDP while on our Honeymoon. I totally forgot about DDE! Does the Wedding AP allow you to purchase the DDE membership (and if so, where can you purchase one?)

The other question I have is that I read on MouseSavers that it's good for up to 10 people at your table. So, if I'm having dinner with our Escape wedding guests (16 people) - is the 20% applied to 10 people or they won't allow me to use it at all? Has anyone tried to do it that way? I thought that might be a nice way to save a little money on our "reception" dinner at 'Ohana and then breakfast the next day at Kona. :wizard:

I wish you could still get the DDP with the weddings!

Yes, you can get DDE with your wedding APs! And yes, you can use it at Ohana for part of your party. One girl said they applied the discount to her whole party, but I wouldn't hold my breath! :upsidedow

Cool! Thanks! Hey, every little bit helps, right? :goodvibes

If they won't apply it to the whole group, have them split the check and pay one with the discount and one without.

We used our DDE card for our welcome dinner @ 'Ohana. They did not apply the 20% to our entire party. They did apply it to 10 meals and all of the alcohol (which was only like 3 drinks). I was hoping we'd get it applied to our entire party (20 people), but no such luck!

Just wanted to add that the DDE was worth it. Also, we ate at Raglan Roads for our rehearsal dinner and they gave the discount to the entire group (23 people).

You can get your DDE card at some of the guest relations centers. DF and I just got ours when we went for our planning session. We went to the Epcot guest relations center outside the park and exchanged our AP voucher and got the DDE at the same time. It was really easy and it's totally worth it. We usually tip 18-20% so now it's like we're getting the tip for free. Starting Jan 1, 2008 though they are automatically adding the 18% gratuity. :goodvibes

$65 for the first person, but you can get an additional card for a spouse/partner for an extra $20. I found this card to be worth it's weight in gold.

With this automatic 18% gratuity, is that for parties of any size or those over X amount of people? If it is for any amount of people, it is kinda stupid to get it. In the end you would only be getting a 2% discount (granted you don't have to leave a tip), whereas the normal AP discount is 10% with no automatic gratuity.

Ok, now I am confused over the AP vs. DDE thing. What benefits do we get with the AP? The DDE does sound fantastic, we'll definately do that, but now I don't understand the 10% thing with the AP.

the AP discounts are smaller and very limited and do not cover alcohol. this above tip statement dosen't make sense. You are going to tip either I way, I assume!? The way I looked at it, the DDE covered tips and then some!Anyway...we recieved the discount on the entire party at both our wedding reception dinner and welcome dinner. Over the course of our wedding and honeymoon, that little $65 card saved us close to $1000!!!! So yes, I'd say it's worth it and we still have a year to keep using it!

Of course we'll tip - I was all set to buy the DDE card but this AP thing confused me.

oops...I meant to quote the other post, lol. The poster above you suggested that saving 20% and adding a tip was worse than saving 10% with no tip. This didn't make sense to me since one would usually tip anyway...therefore you are still saving 10% more with the DDE. Sorry...I didn't mean to offend or add to the confusion.

Does this mean you technically have TWO cards and can get the discount for 20 people? Or just that your spouse can use his when you're not around?

That's okay - I understand! I thought you thought I was trying to get out of tipping! Tipping who and how much and when is hard enough for me to understand how to do correctly, let alone how NOT to do it! :) No offence taken at all :)

lol, thanks, and I totally know what you mean...I have to use the calculator on my phone at times, hahaha! :rotfl:

I'm going to make myself a little card that has already calculated tips on it for different things so I don't mess up! Being from the UK, it's so hard to figure things out - service charges, tax, tips..... I need educating!!! :rotfl2:
