DDE vs. DDP

I am not sure where to put this so please move if necessary.

We just got back from DW on Wednesday. Myself, DH, DS15, DD11 were there for nine day, three on free DDP . I thought I would compare the cost of just using DDE vs. being on the plan so I could see if it would be worth it to pay for DDP on our next trip in April.
When we were not on the plan we spent between $115-$125 per day except one day when we had two buffets (Breakfastosaurus $19 pp and Cape May dinner $26pp). So it seems like we save about $35-$45 per day without the plan.
On the plan we ate alot more but we were not hungry when not on the plan. With the new rules of no tip included I think it would not be worth the cost (our one Coral Reef meal was $175 so it would have been a $35 tip).

It was fun trying the DDP but for us it doesn't seem worth it for our family.

I think it would be interesting to see how many CALORIES people generally consume when they are paying for their meals out-of-pocket, vs when they are on the dining plan.
