DDE vs AP Discounts

Does the DDE give you better and/or more discounts than having an AP? Is there a special number to call and order one?

The DDE is 20% lunch and dinner and has a lot more places to get the discounts. The AP I think is only 10% and not as many places. Also most of the world showcase its onLy LUNCH.

We were also able to use our DDE for breakfast last year. It was good for character breakfasts as well as Kona Cafe at the Poly. I think the DDE is definately worth getting.

You can use it at the food court at the value resorts, too.

That adds up to be a good discount for a family.

As I recall the DDE is also good for alcoholic beverages. One CM told me he had a DDE card b/c even his discount didn't include alcohol. Check to be sure this hasn't changed.

The fee is General Membership (Florida REsidents Only) $85.00
Castmember $80.00
Annual/Seasonl Passholder $60.00
Florida Resident Only (non Passholder) renewals $70.00
Secondary Membership (In the same Household Must be 21 and over) $25.00

It is good for you and up to 9 people.

You can also use DDE at Animal Kingdom's counter service restraunts, I'm not sure if it's all of them, but when ever I've asked they've taken the card.

Yes, the DDE discounts are better and more readily available, but you need to spend $300 before the 20% discount to recoup the $60 fee. Easily done with a family, but tougher if you usually go solo.

As an aside, just our one meal at V&A carried us "over the top" of the DDE break even threshold. We got to use the card a second time at V&A and in September. will have a THIRD opportunity to use it at V&A before it expires. Add in all the other TS meals and--the savings do add up!!

I called today and a very kind CM told me that since I'm not coming until the beginning of Dec. - and the clock starts ticking on the one year as soon as it's purchased - I should wait until Nov. 6th to order it.. If it doesn't arrive in time she said I can pick up a temporary card in Epcot, I believe..

I'll be booking two character meals for myself, 2 other adults, and a child - and it appears from the list that there are lots of other places where I can use it to order for all of us over the course of 9 days, so I think I'll get it in November.. (I'm also going to be heading back to Florida after the holdiays for 2 to 3 months, so between my AP and the DDE, I'm pretty sure I'll get my money's worth out of it.. )
