I posted this question in another thread yesterday and for the life of me, I can't find the thread today.

We are a group of 12 going to Disney in Dec. I have reservations for us for 5 group meals, and for 2 of those we are all at one table but for 3 of them we are split into two tables. I have the DDE card and I'm paying for all 12 people, no matter where we are seated. Can I get the DDE 20% discount for all of us (or at least for up to 10 of us) even if we're sitting at different tables? We could get two DDE cards but I don't see how that would help because my DH and I would still sit together at one of the two tables for the meals where we have to split into two parties.

That's interesting, because I answered you yesterday, and I can't find the thread now either.

You phrased your question a little differently this time, so I'll try again. Read quick, before it disappears!

I don't think you'll have any difficulty using the DDE for more than one table, but I think you'll have to pay the bill for all tables and settle up later. (You can't just go drop your card on a nearby table to spread a little Pixie Dust!) It would obviously simplify the process if all the tables had the same server!

I've seen anecdotal posts about CMs accepting DDE for more than the 10 people allowed, but I don't think you can count on that unless, in fact, you have two cards.

Worst case scenario, all you would lose is 20% discount for 2 people -- you'll still get the discount for at least 10, no matter what.

There isn't any settling to do later, my DH and I are treating his family to a stay at WDW and some meals. I WANT one bill for everyone. I planned all along to be able to use DDE for at least 10 of us (2 are kids anyway and will eat less) but until yesterday, it never entered my mind that the seating arrangements could affect whether I could use DDE for all of us or not.

I'd love for all 12 of us to always be able to sit at one table but that isn't possible at most of the WDW restaurants. I knew about the large table at Jiko's so I snatched that as soon as I could. And I was really surprised that CRT had a large table, too!

Thanks for the help- at least I saw this answer. Wonder what happened to the thread from yesterday?

I posted this question in another thread yesterday and for the life of me, I can't find the thread today. .......

I'm thinking it was this thread:

DDE for large parties?

It was moved to the Restaurants Board - probably because DDE really isn't a DVC subject and DDE questions will get better/more answers over there.

I'm going to move this thread over there, too, but I'll leave a relatively long "timer" on the redirect so you can find your "new" thread on this board for awhile. :)

We didn't use DDE, but we were on the dining plan and there were 11 of us. We had planned one sit down meal for everyone every day. When I made the ADRs, we were at multiple tables because that's what the system could handle. When we actually got there, they tried to seat us all together. It worked at ESPN, Hollywood and Vine, Donald's Breakfastosaurus, and The Brown Derby. We had connecting tables with a shared bench in Le Cellier. They got us in 2 nearby tables at Crystal Palace and Coral Reef. When we had nearby tables, we had the same waiter/waitress. I found the people at the podiums very accommodating.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks! That was the thread I was looking for. I didn't see any link to it saying it had been moved from the DVC board.

Thanks! It's good to hear that they try to get you at one table even if the system doesn't handle reservations that way. And even if we're at two tables, as long as we have the same server I should easily be able to put all of our meals on one bill.
