We (family of 4) have the DDE card from our last trip, but we have the dining plan for this trip. We are meeting another family for dinner one night so I have a reservation for 8. The other 4 are not on the dining plan and will have to pay full price. Is there any reason I can not let them use my discount since they are in my party? I can't see why, after all I can simply say I'm paying for their meal. I'm hoping to share our DDP appetizers and desserts with them and then get them 20% off their bill, it's going to be their only TS meal of the trip and I'm trying to make it affordable for them.

Was wondering if anyone had any input?

Thanks!

Well, I know you can pay for others, so I don't see why not.

You could just give them the card to use. I doubt any of the servers will care, so long as you are tipping on the full amount. I know that when I was a waitress I wouldn't have given a hairy ratt's butt who paid or discounted what...I just wanted the tips. :)

We did this in May.

We were a party of 8 all week long, but DH's parents were not on the Dining Plan. We used our DDE card for their meals all week long, except for Mother's Day (DDE not allowed on this day).

Some places we did this:
Chef Mickey's
LTT
1900 PF
WCC
'Ohana
Biergarten

For the first time in 4 years of having the DDE card, DH was asked for ID in Chefs de France on Sunday afternoon. The waitress said they are cracking down on that.

OTOH, I see no reason why you couldn't pay for their meal with your DDE. We did that when we went with my sister and her family this year. Never had a single problem with it.

Worse case and you have to pay, just ask those dining with you to bring cash and pay you back once you leave the restaurant. Or present the DDE card and say they are treating you and have them pay the bill.
As long as you are present I don't see where it should bother them.
I could see if you just gave someone your card and you split up and go separate ways for the meals. The DDE member needs to be present.
What would be the difference if you had everyone on the DDE and you were paying the entire bill?
You may end up buying something extra like an adult beverage anyway. :confused3

We did this last year with three families and no issues... using my card. But I was always paying for my meal too. This time I'd be eating for free. I don't think it will be an issue, but I was hoping for some reassurance.

Thanks again.
