I just do not know what to do. There are 3 adult age people and 5 children going to WDW. We are staying DVC at BCV and could do DDP or DDE in August. We are staying for 6 nights.

We really like Beaches and Cream and ESPN. WE love great desserts but usually do not order them, same with appetizers. We like good food but there are only a few places that we have to go: Ohana, Chef Mickey and maybe adults only to CG.

We go to WDW all the time, but one adult and three kids are going for the first time and probably will never be able to go back again.

We have 2 rooms and 2 reservations so could do1/2 DDP and 1/2 DDE too .

What do you think?

We got DDE when we went at Thanksgiving with a group of 7... being DVC, it wasn't an option then.

DD18 and I are going for 11 days in June. DVC now allows DDP, but we decided we didn't want that much food (we're trying to lose weight) AND we didn't want to be tied down with all those ADRs.

Since we already got our money's worth out of the DDE, our June "all CS" trip is just what we want.

We, too, are DVC Members so DDP is not available to us yet.....we used DDE last week and we spent far less than we would have spent using DDP. That being said, we did not order appetizers, and only had dessert once - the DDP would be too much food for us. We did both CS and TS meals, one being CRT for dinner, so it's not like we "ate cheap" but ordered as we normally would. DDE just works better FOR US, but others may have a different experience.

I would do the 1/2 group DDP as you mentioned. Buy the DDP for one of your reservations. (2 adults, 2 of the oldest kids). Then share them. We do this often. Our next trip we are at BWV for 12 nights. The last 6 nights my daughter and family are arriving (on a different reservation, also BWV). We will treat them to several dinners using our TS credits and will give them most of our CS credits, since we won't be able to use them all. We like to have a sit down breakfast, so will pay OOP for them. We are also very picky what we use our TS credits on and often pay OOP so that we can share our TS credits for a better value. (we always pay OOP for the Plaza, Trails End, WCC breakfast, Cape May, and Prime Time). This worked great on our last trip in September during the free dining plan. We buy the DDP as a supplement and never use it for all of our meals. While we don't share any entrees, we do share appetizers with non DDP folks who dine with us.

BTW: we also have the DDE card as ALL of us are AP holders. I'm assuming the OP must be an AP holder since they said they could get the DDE alsol. We use our DDE card for our OOP expenses.

Thanks everyone. I like the idea to split the DDP and only do it for 1 room. We like good food but do not want a huge amount of it. Also, we do not want to be held down to lots of ADR's and we are going in Aug so we will need them.
