Hi,
Just got back from an 8 day stay at WDW. We were there with my wife's whole family, a Grand Gathering of 15. I got an annual pass to get great room discounts for all three families and also got the DDE card.
I didn't receive the actual card before my trip, but I had the letter they sent me. Of course the actual card was there in my stack of mail when I returned home!
I was hoping things would go smoothly since the card is only good for up to 10, and my group was larger. We decided not to try to complicate things by having each family pay separately at the meals, we would figure that out when we got home. We just wanted the maximum benefit we could get without any hastle. Here's how it went:
First dinner was at Chef Mickey's. Had 10 adults there and 5 children, split into two adjacent tables. I showed the CM the letter as we were seated and she said no problem. She said right away that it was only good for up to 10, so they would apply the discount to the 10 adults and charge regular price for the kids. This is exactly what I wanted. They created two separate bills, one for the 10 adults and one for the 5 children. The discount was a little over the $50 I paid for the DDE card so we were already ahead.
Next meals went even better. We used the DDE letter at Mama Melrose, L'Originale Alfredo di Roma, and the Crystal Palace Character Meals and they actually applied the discount to the whole party, not just 10 people. We even used the card at the counter service, Restaurantosaurus at AK and there, I showed it for my family of 5, then walked right to my Sister-In-Laws family one line over and showed the letter for her order and received the discount for her family as well.
Thought anyone else going with a large group would like to know how it worked for me!
