DDE - FL resident

Is this really worth it? It would cost us $75 for the card. I have never "done disney" where we stay on site and eat on site etc., so I really have no idea how much to budget for food, etc. We will be staying 2 nights at POP and then switching to WL Villas (studio) for 7 nights. I realize that food can add up but can anyone give me more advice/opinions about this. We wanted to do the MYW with dining but since we got an awesome discount on the room we don't qualify for that.

I have the card and paid and on the first trip we took it we saved well over the 75.00 dollars and a lot more since, but we have been known to take a lot of trips. I guess it really depends on what and where you are planning to eat and how many people.
If you know where you want to eat try and estimate how much it will cost than figure your 20% on each meal and see what your savings is.

If you buy a seasonal pass, DDE is $50 not $75. Since you will be there for about 10 days its $1 more to get the seasonal, not to mention with the seasonal you park hop at no additional charge. Unless of course you are going during the blackout dates.

If you are going anytime besides the blackout dates Seasonal pass is the way to go.

Editted to add-Never mind..you already know that based on your subject. I agree, if the blackout days work for you, go with the seasonal pass and get the DDE for $50. Renewals for the pass are cheaper than the initial price.

We actually are only doing 6 (maybe 7) days in the parks. So the pass would not be something that we would want to do. We will not go back for awhile.

The Seasonal Pass is just over $200. Gets you into the 4 parks only. Don't know what a 6 day ticket cost and don't know what options you want but it would seem like $200 is a pretty good value. Plus you get other (nominal) discounts because it's considered an AP.

Me again. I hope I am assuming correctly that you are a FL resident because the seasonal pass is only for residents. It really is a good value. The official Disney website has good info on this; just click on the Florida Resident link, enter your zip and you'll eventually find what you need. I just bought the DDE and with it, comes a half price discount on PI, too. A $3 or $4 discount on the waterparks but I don't really go there unless I'm there for an extended stay (only been once for 7 days, most trips are 2-3 nights). If you have any more questions feel free to PM me. Even if you dont get the DDE there are lunch discounts and a few shopping discounts associated with the seasonal pass. All in all, one of the best deals Disney offers to Florida residents.

Well, the only way you may be able to find the participating restaurants is to get into the FL resident or AP area of the official Disney website (although I think someone copied the info in another thread). But I DO know that the DDE is for all table service restaurants throughout WDW and the counter service at AK (because they don't have any table service restaurants). I do think though that the DDE is ONLY for residents or AP holders. I could be wrong though since things are changing and I only really pay closest attention to things that impact me (a FL resident with a Seasonal Pass (AP)). There has been much posting on this thread about the DDE so you should have no problem finding the answer if you so a search.

Good luck convincing you dad! Even at $75 it may be a good deal depending on the size of your family and their eating habits.

FYI-I don't think you can use it on the sample portions at the booths at Food and Wine. Don't know about the special events though.

From memory (which isn't what it used to be ):

Lunch, LeCellier, $9 savings
Lunch, Prime Time 50's, $9 (4 adults)
Breakfast, Boma, $9
Dinner, LTT, $13
Lunch, Rose & Crown, $13 (including a UK beer)

The ironic thing is on the first 3 meals, our bill totaled around $40 on all 3 after the discount, which was how I started to keep track.
