DDE expiration ?

I currently have a trip planned for March of '08. Last October my parents and I purchased AP's because we had 2 trips planned in under a year. Which means my AP will expire this coming October. I'd really like to get the DDE card for my March trip but I'm unsure on when it will expire. And whether or not I can still use it since tehnically I will no longer be an AP holder. I'm so confused. Any help would be great. TIA

My understanding is the AP allows you to purchase the DDE .

After that the DDE takes on it's own life and is all you should need for the discounts until it expires-

that is correct. the DDE requires an AP or FL residency to purchase annually, but it has its own expiration date (which can actually be up to 13 months away after receiving). the AP is not required to use the DDE. Photo ID is, but it's almost never asked for.

Thank you so much! This is great news as DBF and I are trying to decide if we want the dining plan or not. Neither of us are big on appetizers or desserts though so it just seems like a waste. At least with the DDE we'd be saving some money still.

We always manage to use our DDE THREE times before it expires!!

I purchased my DDE at the end of May07 for our June trip. My card has an expiration date of 06/30/08 date imprinted on it. That would be the 13 months that has been mentioned.

I just got off the phone with Disney, and she said that if I order today, the expiration date would be 8/31/08, while if she holds my reservation until Monday (August 6th), the expiration date will be 9/30/08. Not sure I'll ever FULLY get how this works, but I'm obviously opting for holding until Monday!
