I got one of these for this past 10 day trip. We ate at 5 character meals and used it there. We used it at POP cafe. But that was it. NO ONE took it at the parks unless it was a char meal. I got sick of asking too! Rain Forest didn't take it either.

I don't think it was worth it unless you go more than once a year or have a big party, we only had two.

Just my report for others that thought of getting it.

Oh my I loved our DDE card it paid for itself on meal one- even without the kids discount. We ate at TS restaurants for dinner every night and saved a boatload- when else do you get a discount on Drinks!! :drinking: So if you eat Table service meals and drink it is well worth the price.I checked who took the card before I got it and knew what we would be able to save on. It was a $50 well spent for us.

Yep thats the key to it, if you do a lot of table service OR have a big party. We didnt. Oh well.. just an FYI to others.

I just used it for our trip last week and saved a lot of money and it was just my husband and I.
We used it at Ohana, Kona, Boma, Whispering Canyon, Cafe May Cafe Clam Bake.
It is good at most table service restaurants, or you can use it at the food courts of the value resorts and at the food court at POFQ, and I think you can use it at the counter services restaurants in AK because the AK does not have a table service restaurant.
Considering the cost of the card was $50 and I've used it twice this year and will use it again for my trip in May, it has more than paid for itself. A 20% discount is a nice savings.

We got a lot of use out of our DDE card for just DH and I.

We also used it at the Brown Derby, Le Cellier, Biergarten with no problems more than once....all of which are in the parks.

Let's see. Place within the parks without characters that take DDE.

In MK there is Plaza Restaurant and Tony's Town Square.

In MGM there is Brown Derby and 50's Prime Time.

Epcot there is Coral Reef, San Angel, Nine Dragons, Biergarten, Alfredo's, Marrakesh, Chef de France, Bistro, Rose & Crown and Le Cellier.

AK has no sit-down restaurant so it is good at Tusker House, Flame Tree, and Restaurantasaurus.

We used our DDE card for our trip last month! There were three of us total and we were on propery for 2 weeks! We did alot of sitdown dinning, so for us it saved us mucho amounts of money! plus it made it easy for tipping! (we usually tip 20%...so we just tacked back on the discount as the tip! hahaha) No calculating needed! We usually spent the day thinking about where we were to dine using the DDE list of restaruants, so that we knew were getting the most use out of our card.

How do you get this card? 20 percent off sounds worth the price of the card.

I'm another one that has gotten good use of the DDE card. We more than made up the $50 cost of the card this summer alone. I will not use it that much on this upcoming trip because we are on the dining plan, but there are a couple TS meals that we are paying for out of pocket. So, it will help.

You really do have to think about where you eat and what your dining habits are to determine if the card will be worth it to you.

Also Hollywood and Vine and Sci-Fi, we used it at both of those. Also Mama Melrose.

We saved over $100 in May (8 day trip) and this month saved approx $35 on 3 meals - 4 day trip (Coral Reef, Boatwrights at PO-R and Flame Tree BBQ). Well worth the $50 we spent on it. Plus we have another trip in April planned before it expires :)

Miss Missy, I'm sorry that you didn't find that the DDE was of value to you. I wonder if you looked into which locations would accept it before you decided to purchase it? I know that I took a long look thru the list of restaurants before deciding to get it. For us, with 2 adults and 2 juniors who enjoy at least one sitdown meal per day, it was well worth the cost of the card. If there were only 2 of us and we were mainly doing the counterservice meals, I think that I would have skipped it.

Also, Liberty Tree Tavern takes it at MK for lunch...it's not character.

I've used mine enough to pay for it, but I did miss using it a few times this past trip - stupid me! I didn't think Tusker House was on the list, and we forgot to use it at the castle, of all places!

One thing I did find though was that it was fairly useful at DD. I used it at the WoD store, Ghiridelli's, and at the Wolfgang Puck restaurant (the quick eatery). However, I think the AP alone would have given us the same discounts. the Wolfgang Puck eatery was very good, better than RF cafe, IMHO, less expensive, though not as scenic.

For the RF Cafe, you can get a card from them. It costs $15, but you get $5 extra off your first purchase, 10% or a free appetizer (certainnones only - be certain to ask which ones!) every meal, plus a ten $ coupon on your birthday (good at any Landry's eatery, I think), and the best benefit of all - priority seating at any Landry's restaurant! So if the restaurant is busy - you get the first available table! That alone can be worth the $ with kids! I'd say it probably isn't worth it if you'll only use it once, but if you have a landry's restaurant near your house, it is a good deal. The free appetizer usually saves about $8 off your bill.

We not only went through all the restaurants, but figured out the difference between a 7 day pass and an AP for my husband, added the cost of the waterpark 'cause he wouldn't get a plus pass, added the cost of the DDE to come up with a cost. Then we went through the restaurants included we had planned meals at and the menus at all ears net coming up with a guess on the bill. We did this with the alcohol, so we knew that if we were close to breaking even, the alcohol would bring us over the top. We are a famly of four, kids six and seven, and eat sit down once a day. And we weren't going to spend quite enough to break even. Until my husband decided to take a boys trip in the Spring which made the AP worthwhile.

Discount cards you have to pay for are seldom a good value for everyone, you need to consider your own situation carefully.
