This may sound complicated but here goes........I'm considering buying an AP just so I could get the DDE. There will be 7 of us going for 10 days and the savings could be significant. I really don't need the AP for a ticket though as I've paid for tickets already and the amount for a 10 day ticket is only $277. I also have a AAA discount so that's not too bad either. I was wondering if you can "save" the activation of the AP for a later date but still use the DDE card since it has an expiration date not connected to the activation of the AP? Does anyone know the answer or even understand what it is I'm asking? Thanks for your help.

You should be able to activate the AP at anytime pretty much. Usually you get a voucher when you purchase it especially from AAA. Then you go an activate it. Keep in mind it would be an additional $50 for the DDE card. My thinking though is that it's a lot of $$$ to lay out upfront to get the Dining card discounts.

You probably need to sit down and really do the math. The other thing is I'm not sure if your pass actually needs to be "activated" to purchase a DDE card? That's a good possibility. We've had a DDE card for years but we're FL residents so they had our address and that was proof enough. (keep in mind the DDE card "usually" gives you a discount for up to 6 guests). You may need to supply your AP # when ordering the DDE card? Maybe someone else can jump in and address that.

As far as I know you'll need to have the active AP # to get the DDE. I agree, do the math. You're looking at spending $470 for the AP and DDE, which means that you'd have to spend close to $2500 on eligible dining (not all restaurants participate) befoer you'd break even. Even when we went with my DS, DBIL, their three kids and the three of us for a week eating almost exclusively table service for lunch, two CB's, and a signature (with a bottle of wine) most every night for dinner I don't think we quite hit that.

All you need is your voucher # to order the DDE card. I was not asked to show my AP at dinner but I'm sure you could just show the voucher. Also the DDE is good for up to 10 guests not 6. Our family of 5 (3A 2C) used our card last week for 12 meals & saved $195!!!

I've been doing some calculations based on menus on allearsnet and also based on what my usual party of 5 spends on TS meals with wine included and I've figured I would save close to $1000 over 10 days. We do TS for lunch and dinner usually as well as a couple of character breakfasts. Last year we would have saved $96 on our one meal at Narcoossee's with DDE. I'm seriously considering doing this.

over a 4 day period, my husband and i saved 87$ on our meals in may. we had no children w/us and did not drink. hope this helps! :earboy2:

I think it is a fabulous idea! We just joined too and I can't wait to see how much I save! :goodvibes

When I bought the DDE I just gave them AP vocher number. When we used it in June all we ever had to show was a photo id and letter for DDE since we didn't have card yet.
