DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning all...
Have been just a tad busy (which is normal this time of year for me), so I'm a good bit behind the times 'round here.
Hope all y'all are well and looking forward to a better year.

I'm looking at a very different year at the moment.
The business announced that it is selling off the manufacturing arm and as you might imagine, the folks buying it won't be needing all of the support and administration staff going forward. For me that means about a 4-in-5 chance of being unemployed by spring (and therefore potentially homeless by winter). We'll see but the outlook is fairly grim and the available options and not very promising.
So... Happy New Year?

Ehhh, the heck with all that noise.
How about a laugh (with much truth hidden in it)...

Top O the Mornin Dads! At least it was a short week to work back into the real world. Looking forward to a nice steak dinner tonight with DW & DS before he heads back to school tomorrow, dinner & drinks out tomorrow night with some of the soccer parents and the upcoming football playoff games. That is all, have a great weekend.
We have a department that struggled to keep people and they had was working 12s 7 days a week for awhile. They would shut down occasionally for the weekend. I personally like 12s as long as i don't have to work more than 3 in a row.
DD works 12's as a nurse combo of 7 am - 7 pm or 7 pm to 7 am. What kils her the most is is when she works 24 within a 36 hour period.
Morning, gents.
Looking like I might get tomorrow off, so for me, this is actually a real Friday.

Gotta work Sunday, so not positive if it counts.

Hope everyone has a good day and an even better tomorrow. I might go skating tonight with the youngest kid. We'll see what happens.
Sounds like a good weekend for you - enjoy!

Sorry to hear this Rob.
Job uncertainty has plagued me the last few years. I've managed to get through it OK.
I hope this can work out for you as well, one way or the other.

Oh, man. That sounds... not so good. Hope it all works out, buddy.

Sounds like a good weekend for you - enjoy!

Thanks!

Hmmm... not sure I know what you mean by that?
He works a 12hr shift then has 8 off so if he works 8a-8p he comes back for 4a-4p etc...

Sorry to hear that man. Hope it works out or you at least can land on your feet.

What a freakin day. I'm home and drinking early.

All Right, That's It! I'm calling it. Pack your bags and haul a$$ to #DDCC7, where the Beer is Cold and the Bacon is Hot! If you can't make it down and your not on the Facebook you can follow the hijinks and shenanigans

You have a room for me? Transportation? Food? Tickets? Only 4 more years and I'll be there.

Never tell me the odds!!!

Rob, I hope you make it thru. Sadly, these situations are far too common. I feel like I'm hanging by a thread. Prayers for you.

Sorry to hear Rob, hopefully that 1-in-5 chance is the one that comes through for you.

Well...crud. I'm sorry to hear that, and for the stress that comes with it.

On the other hand, we know it's never been a place of sunshine and rainbows. Maybe this means you'll end up in a better place? Praying this will work out for you.

Ouch. Eat well and get rest as you can because fatigue and hunger make cowards of us all and can bring on the shadows. Praying for peace while you wait for the outcome and may it be better than you hope no matter how it ends. Rom.8:28.

Very sorry to hear Rob. Positive thoughts and pixie dust your way and hoping this works out for you in the positive.

Morning boys from a vaguely chilly London. Took the Grinch down and the outside lights this morning, now watching some FA Cup action. This is a good weekend as you get some giant killing going on.

I'm looking at a very different year at the moment.
I really hope it works out for you Rob. All the best mate. Look after yourself.

Just work stupidity. Just gotta walk away.
Amen

That would be a milestone year for me, so let's both shoot for it.
Spent the day watching the final day of trials for our Alpine team for the upcoming Canada Games. It was only a 500 km round trip and a few hours standing on the side of a mountain but it was fun.
There are worse jobs to have, I guess.
Bring out a warm, comfy, heated recliner.
Is that like Jeff's blower?

Have a great Saturday fellas.
Oh. And Bear Down.

Morning, boys.

No plans for today except to try to recover before going to work tomorrow.
Probably start doing like Dan and taking down Christmas decorations.
I'll leave the outside lights on through the month, though. Just too dark and cold without a little cheer.

Afternoon everyone from a sunny and pleasant 2C. Heading to the shooting range for some practice. Then back home to take down the Christmas decorations, seems like a popular chore today. Enjoy the weekend.
