DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning all...
Having to get brake work done on the 16 year old vehicle today. Several Benjies will be leaving my pockets, but...
It's still better than a nearly equivalent monthly loan payment.

Well, if you get down the first week of April, I'd like to get a meet and picture with you. If it happens to time up that Friday, I'll get you up TOTWL (as long as guests are permitted) and I won't even make you scale up the side of the building.
Mighty generous and I do wish I could take you up on that offer (especially not having to clime the tower).
But... (and there's always a but, ain't there) if we get down that way it won't be until near the end of April.

missed it by that much...

Buffalo really doesn't get that cold, just a lot of snow until Lake Erie freezes. Living in Iowa was a lot colder.
Not cold? It's enough to freeze a 9,940 square mile lake and yet Iowa is worse...
My DW is right, obviously we can't leave the South.

Storm day her for DS and DW. Probably a good thing as DS seemed to get the stomach bug that many of his team-mates have been getting.

Freezing rain for my drive in this morning, suppose to be snow for my drive home.
None of this sounds the least little bit joyful.
My things improve quickly.

I am feeling I won the lottery. The final OK call on the proposal was given after a calm 45 minutes. Changes made as we went and it is off to them. Bye, Bye.

Then over 2 hours dealing with the IRS (Evil Music Noise)! That was painful to say the least. Almost an hour on hold, waiting for them. Then the gist of the conversation: Me, "I don't owe $500+" (due of late payment and all sorts penalties). Her, "Our numbers say you do." "Do you have payment ______?" (made after the final numbers were done). After a bit of rummaging around, "No." "I have the canceled check in front of me." I gave her the information and then more information after put on hold multiple times. Finally she came back and announced, "Found it!" It seems the check got credited to another return of mine or the kid's.

So? To the IRS I say, "YOU GET NOTHING! YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!"

To be totally honest I played a small part in the error and the IRS worker as helpful. She seemed almost as happy as I was to find it. Haven't felt this good in weeks.

Drinks are on CJ!!!

Morning Guys,

Storm day her for DS and DW. Probably a good thing as DS seemed to get the stomach bug that many of his team-mates have been getting.

Freezing rain for my drive in this morning, suppose to be snow for my drive home.

Have a good one!
Be safe. It's been in the high 60's / 70's here which we do not like - needs to be a bit of a chill in the air this time of year.

Hey guys! Back from an all-too-brief weekend getaway with the Mrs. down in our favorite place. It went way too quickly but we had a lot of fun. What did I miss?

If I were you, I'd have CJ call the repair shop. He's on a roll!

Congratulations, and enjoy it while it lasts!

Happy Monday!

Er... um, I mean Tuesday. Kind of Monday for me, in a way. The kids have both had the flu over the past couple of weeks and apparently they felt the need to share. Needless to say, Sunday and the day I took off of work on Monday were none too fun.

Several Benjies?? You need to find a brake guy who isn't trying to screw you. :rolleyes1

Either that or you should have had brake work done while you still had some semblance of a brake system intact. :rotfl2:

Either way, sorry about that. Hope everything else is going well and that you're continuing to get better physically.

I'm glad this was resolved relatively easily. I'm sure it is a weight off your shoulders!

Looks like you guys had an awesome trip. I'm sorry it was so short.

Like I said... 16 year old vehicle (and I didn't own it the first 13).
Needed rotors both sides in the front and cylinders in both rear drums, and then the pads, shoes, repair to the emergency-break and labor. That much tinkering don't usually come in on the dirt cheap side of the spectrum.

Then again, maybe it's a function of us speaking rather different languages.
We may just need to come to an agreement of the definition of the word "several".

Almost forgot. On December 15, 1966, Walt died of lung cancer. He was just 10 days past celebrating his 65th birthday.

Thank you Walt, you never knew how your life touched mine and so many others.

Morning folks. Light snow falling this morning.
This is right and just. Must have a white Christmas up here.
Now if only it would go away... oh... say, January 4th-ish

Nice day here today. Yesterday the northern part of the Province got close to 2 feet of snow, the southern all rain, here in the middle - snow and ice. On Friday, we are supposed to be near 50F and rain so what we have will be gone again.

Send some of the white stuff down here!

Happy Wednesday. Had to drive to campus all week and saw signs for I-65South, the way we go to WDW. I've been day dreaming about making that right turn.....

Maybe one of these years.

Glad to hear you survived the KGB er um IRS. That sounds like you have enough to fly me to wdw for the ddc convention. :lmao:

s!

Followed your trip on FB. Did you finally get that promotion?

Hope they recover soon. Being sick over Christmas stinks.

No, keep the snow up there with all the penguins. We don't want any snow.

Busy day today including buying a tree. It only is going to be up a couple of weeks so I wanted a 4-5'. The smallest at Home Depot was 6-7' Only $40, which for down here, is a steal. Gave the guy $5 to put it on the car. He said he couldn't take it in his hand but it would be OK if I put it in his pocket.

Hit Publix to pick up a couple of things and found big, juicy New York strips for $6.65 a pound. My big hunk of meat was around $11.00. Christmas dinner for me!

Also ran into this guy.

It only has to be 32 F or 0 C to freeze water. Not that bad really.

In Iowa the wind starts blowing about Montana and doesn't stop until it hits Iowa. Almost 30 years of living in NY and I had never experienced exposed flesh warnings until moving to Iowa. Brrrrr. Iowa is a nice place though. Lots of pickled herring on the buffets! I'd give it and KY up though if I could settle somewhere around the Sarasota latitude and never be cold again. Something about aging I don't warm up as quick as I did.

Bah. Humbug!

Andy, I hope you and the family are on the mend. Better to get it over with now rather than Christmas.
