DD had a hoop game last night against her cousin. From tip off, it was easy to tell that we had Laurel and Hardy refereeing the game. It was a good game for the first half with the good guys up 2 points at the break. Coach (that would be me) made the second half adjustments. Right away, we score 3 straight baskets to build the lead.........And that's when the referees decided the rules no longer applied to the other team. The rules state that you cannot press during the game and the defense needs to be man to man no double teaming. The other team decided to double the girl with the ball 3 straight times in the back court leading to 3 baskets. No matter how nicely the coach explained the rules, said referees seemed to feel that my player lost the ball dribbling and no such double teaming was taking place........another adjustment......Near the end of the game, my players were called for 2 offensive fouls while up 1 point and less than a minute left. They are 10 year old girls and don't even know what an offensive foul is. The with 13 seconds left it happened. The good guys up one point and waiting for the girl with the ball to cross half court. The girls gets near my defensive player and falls down. No contact at all on the play. Hardy blows his whistle and calls a foul. I remind you that there was not a player within a couple feet of this girl. Now they get 2 foul shots because we are now over the limit due to previous offensive fouls called. She hits one shot and ties the game and we go to overtime.

Overtime starts with opposing teams best player picking up her 5th foul 15 seconds in. She has to sit, right? Nope. No matter how many times I explain to Hardy that she is out of the game and has 5 fouls she is allowed to play.:furious: Up two with under 20 seconds left, said girl that is allowed to play even though fouled out knocks my player to the ground getting the rebound and then takes the ball and ties the game. Second overtime.

2 minute OT right guys. Well that's how it started. With 50 seconds gone in OT, the opposing team goes up 2 points. Timeout. The referees go over and talk. Second OT is only supposed to be 1 minute. They take a minute off the clock leaving us with 10 second to try to tie the game. Needless to say we lose by 2 in double OT.

I am proud of myself for setting a solid example and not getting tossed from the game. These guys get paid $40 to referee a 28 minute game. That's obnoxious that these people get paid and don't even know the rules of the game.

OK....Complaining over. I feel better now.

I feel for you.
I had a somewhat similar situation years ago when I coached my younger brother's 8th grade team. The referees started out the game blowing whistles on every touch - and I was shuffling players like crazy trying to keep them out of foul trouble. I think they must have noticed at halftime that all those whistles were making the game go slowly - maybe they had dinner plans or something. Because after halftime, it was like the whistles around their necks didn't even exist, and my guys were getting MAULED.

At one point, one of my players got knocked to the ground by a forearm to the throat - they finally had to blow a whistle to stop play so he could be helped off the court. But they still wouldn't call a foul. I was ready to pull my team off the floor and walk away. But despite everything, the kids were up a few points, and wanted to play it out. I think if I were in that situation again, I would have pulled the kids off the floor anyway. It was NOT a safe situation. But at the time, I was only 17 years old, and was more heavily influenced by the players' desire to keep playing.

Afternoon gents! Hope everyone is doing well. Just got back from lunch at an authentic Mexican taquería. Man, was it good! Pretty sure I might just pass out at some point this afternoon and slip into food-coma!
On the family front DS (13 weeks today) has decided to on a sleep strike. We’re trying to transition him into his crib for all naps and sleep and he’s protesting…vocally. We’ll get 10-15 minutes during the day before he wakes. At night, it’s about 2-3 hours. DW is about exhausted from it all. I get a break from it at work. As first time parents, we know we’ll get through it, but it’s a little overwhelming at the moment.
Hope everyone has a great (and hopefully cooler) weekend.

Well, the most important thing is...

He shot a 77 in this heat?! Does he give lessons?

What's the big deal? I easily score a 77 or less every time I play 9 holes or mini-golf.

Damn you beat me to it... I was going to say, I can shoot a 77, the problem is then I have to do the back nine...

Hang in there. I don't remember the first 6 months with our first one.

I just booked The Penguin up close tour in Seaworld, maybe I'll find out what they are up to:lmao::thumbsup2

I thought the penguin encounter was just a regular attraction?:confused3 Back to the planning itinerary. We'll be there on the 26th of August. I'll have to see if we can get it booked.

One day closer to Disney. That is the only way I get thru some days is to keep telling myself, one day closer.

But on the bright side our Photo-pass + came in today. I have already put all 400 of the photo gallery pics on my home PC and made it my screen saver. Cant wait till we get to make our own.

I have been tweaking a touring plan for each day and thought i had everything planned. Then I went over it with the girls and found that I have to go back and add every ride i left out LOL. I showed them the on-ride videos on you tube and both agreed to do all of the coasters except Rocking roller coaster and Everest. I was shocked my oldest agreed, anything faster than a carousel is usually too much.

Much of the same. Everything lining up. DD has added Splash, BTM, Space, Everest and Tot to her list this year. She was never a big rider, but seems to have entered her "crazy" phase and wants to ride everything.

Of course My telling her this may be the last time I we go until she has kids may be part of that.:rotfl2::rotfl2: Don't tell her, but I'm pretty sure we'll be there next summer on the bounce back.

You guys be careful out there in this heat. I got a call while I was working today that Dad was on the way in to the ER by ambulance. I hurried with what I was doing and ran downstairs to see what was going on. Turns out that the goof ball had gone to play golf today...completed his 18 holes and shot a 77. Then comes home and passes flat out in the kitchen. I asked him why he was out in this heat playing golf and his response was... "I was trying to shoot my age"....He is 70...he missed it by a few shots...Parents...what are we going to do with them!!!;)

Glad he's OK. A 77 is pretty good. I think I've only broken 80 a couple times in the last 10 years and those were pretty easy courses (No, not mini golf).

NO RUM:eek::eek::eek::scared1::scared1::scared1: This is getting serious :rolleyes1

:rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao: As a standing (actually sitting since being on the coach is a requirement) member of Team Sparrow, I am sworn to keep at least one unopened bottle of rum in the house at all times. Once that bottle is opened, a new one is purchased. Of course I can't remember when we had only 1 bottle.:thumbsup2

Was that Carl?

It really is mind boggling. For $40 you would think they could at least find people with a little common sense to referee. I did sent a short note into the league director to document the idiocy. Let someone else pay them to not do their jobs.

Stay strong! It gets better. When my DS was a newborn and into his toddler years he tested us at every turn. My wife told me that the second child is opposite and would be easier. I told her to be careful as he may have been the good one. Guess what?............she gave us a run for our money that is still going on at age 10.:thumbsup2 At times I was calling an old priest and a young priest.:laughing:

There's a decent chance they broke my xbox.

They're trained to spread mis-information, like Disney Bus Drivers..:rotfl2:

But I thought the Bus Drivers were like the internet. They can't say it if it isn't true...

:

I have four open bottles - rum, coconut rum, whiskey, & bourbon. The only bottles that aren't open are beer.

Honestly, I've been thinking of taking up drinking again.

Took me a minute to figure this one out.:thumbsup2
..

Having fun with fonts. What could have you made think of not drinking? Everything is better with booze.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

The key is just to stop playing once you hit 77.

Or, just stop scoring at 77.

I hear you. My youngest cried for the first 6 plus months of her life. It was hard. Hang in there.

It sucks now, but trust me - it will pass and you'll hardly remember these times. Want proof? And family with more than one child. :thumbsup2

It's expensive! That's really the only reason.

True. Just have to make it a budget item and take the money from another category. And, quality and quantity are in there. I won't buy the $200 per bottle stuff, but I'm not drinking the rubbing alcohol either.

We are going to look at the bounce ack too, that being said DW has asked me to price out Disneyland and a short WDW trip+DCL as well

They are the Wikipedia of Disney

What ? Who ever heard of stopping after the third hole?

Very quiet tonight...internet must have melted in the heat....:rotfl2:

Are you doing MDE? I was able to link our MNSSHP tickets, reservations, ADRs, and notes about QS plans and some others. Once again, it is not a user friendly program. I'll leave the touring plan in my head.
I have it set up for my ADR's but the app doesn't work on Windows 8 phones so i am using touringplans . com. Also since we are offsite i cant tie fastpass + to it anyway

False alarm. It seems to be working. But there's no rum (true story).
No not false. real alarm there must be RUM

Stick with it. It will pass soon and having them trained for the crib make is so much better when they start walking so they don't get up and come to mom and dads bed in the middle of the night.

.

I have the Windows phone too (Samsung focus). I really like the OS, real radio, and the Windows documents usage. But, I like having all the Apps on the iPad, and iTunes is way easier to use than Zune. Still, be a PC or iPad, MDE is not very user friendly". And, to make it even worse, I have to link it to the DVC side.

On the road so I didn't have to leave at 6 AM tomorrow for a meeting. Went from a dry county to a dry county and only passed through dry counties. At least I get TV and AC for a change.
