Did you guys see this? Horrible.

But made me think of the old discussion, are on-line friends the same as in person friends? It has been a while since that discussion here. Certainly, I'm pretty confident where I stand, and I've definitely seen a growing acceptance of on-line friendships. Thoughts?

Yes, I think so! So, Yes!

Without a doubt yes, I made an online friend when I was 16 ( now 31) and since then we have hung out quite a few times and will be seeing her next month on the first day of our wdw trip, she is one of my best and closest friends and she started as my first online friend, some people don't see online friends ever but they are still friends, that story is horrible and seeing as he made an impact on people he had never met speaks a lot

It's funny, I usually get criticized for saying things like this, but I can't help it. I avoid 9/11 stories and shows almost completely. So does my wife. In fact, we did not mention it once to each other today.

Wouldn’t even consider criticizing. Hopefully, I wasn’t adding to the unease by posting images of the memorial; certainly wasn’t the intention.

I also avoid nearly all of the televised reworkings of that day.
Both because it’s disturbing and because (on the telle at least) it’s often sensationalized for one reason or another.

I have beach front property in Indiana id like to sell you.

That wouldn’t happen to be in Beverly Shores now would it?
:lmao:

A very sad state of affairs.

As to the question of online friendships…
Since friendship is generally the result of conversation and shared experience,
I’d have to say that those on-line ought to be considered in the same space as those in close proximity.
History is replete with folks that saw each other rarely but sought to converse via letter regularly.

I consider a lot of you guys the same as "in person" friends. :thumbsup2

Though, if I didn't, my wife would probably leave me for all the time I spend talking to you online, doing podcasts, and meeting up at the parks. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Chris, I can appreciate that. While I was in DC with most of my staff, other staff members were in NY. Their experience was a lot more intense than ours was. No one should be criticized about how they cope dealing with 9-11 and the aftermath.

Thanks.

Not at all. I fully understand and appreciate the national significance and I completely respect how people express all of their feelings towards it.

Couldn't agree more! I've said it before, but my wife's response to my on-line life is, "eh, there are a lot of worse things he could be into"

A puller!!! I have beach front property in Indiana id like to sell you. One shot of hair spray and it will pull out. Why didn't you text me?

I thought you were just HVAC, not plumbing. I shoulda known, Zerfs does it all!

Didn't see anything on YouTube about hairspray!

Morning guys. :wave2:

13 days until we head down. :cool1: DD still has no clue, but asks daily about when we can go back to WDW... The plan is still to wake her up at about 4 am right as we need to head to the airport and tell her... I'm hoping it goes well, but a bit nervous at how she'll respond to the surprise of it all (she likes to plan for things, even at 4 yrs old)...

Wish I was going with you! 2 years ago I got both DD and DS to Manchester airport and into the terminal until they figured it out. It was awesome. Good luck keeping it quiet.:snooty: Evan just stood there stunned that he wasn't actually going to school while Alex ran through the airport telling everyone she could find!:lmao:

Have a great time and when you get back I'll have figured out the PM thing and we can get those tickets to your mailbox.:teacher:

Good afternoon gentlem....er fellas. Hope it's been a good one. I missed out on most of the discussion yesterday as I was stuck in a mandatory safety meeting all day. :headache: Tomorrow will be better as I get to skip out of work early to go to a golf outing. :cool1:

DW and I have been putting off replacing our cell phones (early generation Moto Droids)for a couple of months. With today's announcement of the new iPhone's I think that is the direction we are going to go. Can't wait because the current phone spends more time on a charger than not at this point.

That wouldn’t happen to be in Beverly Shores now would it?
:lmao:

Do you know Beverly Shores? That is within a couple miles of my office.

Thanks! I wish we were flying out of Manchester, but the JetBlue flights out of Boston worked better schedule and price wise. Manchester is just a lot easier!

We'll see if we can keep it a secret... Magical Express tags came in the other day, and DW and I are talking about it all the time, so we could slip up easily! :rotfl2:

Have fun at the game Sunday! Should be awesome. :thumbsup2

Happy Wednesday guys.

I've got an unusual Wednesday off (normally it's Friday or Saturday).

Did my first bit of plumbing I ever did today....fixed our bathroom faucet that wasn't giving out hot water anymore.

A call to Moen and a quick run to Home depot for a puller tool and in about an hour I've got hot and cold again.

:cool1:

Not too bad for a guy that's not so handy!

Hope you all have a great day!

See you aren't completely useless... ;)

Good job nemesis

Doc, I do think that online friends are just as important... in fact, I may argue that online friends may be closer.
My real life friends, I may see once a month, once every 6 weeks, sometimes a year. And seeing them, we will catch up on "How have you been doing?", "How's the family?", "Nice weather huh?"

But online... we talk almost everyday, we open up about real problems, and challenges in our lives.

For example... (not trying to put the spotlight on Chris here):

It's funny, I usually get criticized for saying things like this, but I can't help it. I avoid 9/11 stories and shows almost completely. So does my wife. In fact, we did not mention it once to each other today.

That quote speaks volumes to my point... Chris opened up about a very personal issue that he normally doesn't talk about face to face. But he felt a feeling of comfort to share this vulnerability with us.
And as expected, we all supported him and let him know that it was ok to share, and we respect his decision.
