Evening guys!

Just got back from a looooonnnnngggg drive from the Outer Banks. A great trip! Got their on Saturday and didn't put on shoes until Tuesday. Hung with old friends, reconnected with their rapidly growing children, played lots of games, swam, boogie boarded, and realized that I have a lot of training to do before the DDC. Also got to fit in a great visit with the Oblivious Family.

THanks for checking on me, Randall! Did I miss anything?

Peanut Buttering Beverly.....

DW was in an accident an hour ago or so...they seem all fine, paramedics checked them out. I ran home and saw the damage. If I'd been in the car, I'd of been banged up good. Apparently the guy ran through the stop sign and got us in the passenger side door. Kids are pretty shaken up, I brought then home (it was only a block away where it happened) Jo is still dealing with the towing details etc.

Just when it looked like we were comming out ahead.....

Wow, thank God they're not hurt!

No not IT. I work in Respiratory.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Excellent! An RT! :cool1: In the PICU? NICU? Or do you guys float?

Excellent job. Should I wait by the mailbox for a slice?

Oldest dd 10 baked her first cake by herself with minimum supervision. She cracked the eggs and everything.

Fantastic Job!!! She could be the next Paula Deen!!:thumbsup2

BAck home from Hilton Head...leaft at 1045 after a relaxing breakfast and got hme around 9 this evening...considering we drove through heavy rain most of the way...got caught in traffic from three accidents, the usual traffic at the junction of I-77 and I-81 in Virginia, and multiple potty breaks for Lauren Id say we made decent time. Look forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight!!!:thumbsup2

I hope so, I have noticed a trend in the 3 rounds, every time it is my turn the Jackpot is way up there, if we don't win Sat, I think I'll come up with something where we can pick #'s and put them together as tickets but no one picks the whole ticket it will be random #'s from all the guys in the pool lumped together, it seems complicated but I've had luck with this in the pick 5, I've hit 4 #'s 3 times in the last 2 years, so there might be something to it:confused3

whatever you think hte best way for us to win is then that is what we will try!!!:cool1:

Thank goodness there were no serious injuries!!! Things can be replaced but our loved ones can not be. I agree that when you think you are about to get ahead in life something unexpected happens and life throws you a curve ball. Hang in there buddy...it will get better...I am praying that the other person had insurance coverage so that will get your car repaired on his dime and not yours!

I'm glad everyone is ok. That's the important part. Hopefully there won't be any problems getting his insurance to cover everything.

I was in a similar situation a few months ago, and I definitely feel your pain and frustration.

First of all, happy birthdays, prayers, congrats and well wishes in general to all I've missed the past few days. I just got home last night from a quick trip to DC to attend the briefing and release of the USDA August crop report. It wad very interesting to see the behind the scenes activity leading up to the reports release. It always had a huge impact on the markets, so it was really cool to see the security measures and get to ask the analysts questions about how the obtain and assemble their information.

Anyway, today I mowed the yard for the first time in over 2 months. The grass didn't need cut, but some of the weeds were beginning to look kind of bad.

DS and I headed over to my mom and dads for a while today. We worked out in the shop for a while trying to get ready for harvest.

2012-08-11_20-24-48_934.jpg

On the way home DS and I walked a corn field and pulled a few ears. The one on the left is close to what an average ear looks like on a good year. It took some searching to find one that big. The rest are pretty small and there are a lot of plants out there without an ear. The one on the right is so small that it probably can't even be harvested. It will probably fall through the corn head. I can usually get a good yield estimate at this stage, but this year I have no idea... I just know it won't be pretty.

Thank you everyone for the thoughts. I am very glad that everyone is okay, that it appears that there are no injuries. I freaked on the bus, when letting DW know I was on the way, that Audrey was in the ambulence:scared1: They checked her over, and I'm going to do the three-hour check through the night to precaution for concussions, since the side air-bag deployed and knocked into her. She hasn't had any pain, but there was a little brusing on her shoulder where the belt was.
As for the car, gotta wait till Monday afternoon or so to find out it's fate, when an adjuster etc can have a go at it. DDW got the rental, a dodge Nitro, meh....we might still go with the Marineland plan Monday, we'll see how we feel tomorrow night.
Jo and I just gotta get outta the little funk we're in now. We had finally started turning a corner in a lot of things, includung $$ and might have been set back kinda bites. We really do want a house someday. Other then that things are fine.

Wow Andy...that puts a realistic spin on things when you SEE what it realy is like...I guess we can all expect everything that corn is used for to go up in price...man o man... I hope it improves for you by harvest time!!

Glad to hear that the family is OK. Sorry about the car and the headaches coming up with repair or replacement.

I love that day when DDs take over making something in the Kitchen. Looks like you scored BIG! :thumbsup2

So, when I used to work in the grocery store (deli/bakery), there were lots of goods that came up "damaged" that we couldn't sell. We would have to sample them to make sure the rst of the product was safe for consumers. Ever get free samples?

We have staff samplings, all set up through the manager. As for "free samples"..um err....

no comment?:littleangel:

That IS one of the options.....

Busy day but about to stick a fork in it and call it done. Harvested some green beans, got the broccoli ready to transplant, transplanted some roundup ready sweet corn, worked on a presentation and then went home mopped the floor, got the laundry done, and weeded out my iris bed.

Most importantly, tested DS on pancake making and he passed so it is one more thing off my list and on his list when it needs doing. :thumbsup2 He isn't ready for bacon yet though.

Bet some strawberries right now'd be good.....:rotfl2:

I put one each in the mail for you.

Just checked the mailbox and it was there. Thank her for me, it was delicious.

Seeing your posts, I'm sorry you had such a rotten time. Looking forward to seeing more pics. You are going to post them aren't you?

Wow Andy. I remember the pics when you were prepping the field. Sorry to hear this season has been such a challenge. Hopefully you can salvage something.

She did great and was proud of herself. Now, if I can just get one to cut the grass and do laundry ....

:thumbsup2. I hear ya. It was amazing how on some nights, a loaf of bread would get damaged at the exact same time as a package of ice cream, chips, and lunch meat. What are the odds?

Nice:thumbsup2, If you had some red icing it could be a Darth Maul cake

That theming was as fas as I let her go, I told her we could take a cake decorating class together sometime. Dancing and Baking - two that aren't mixed together very often.

Just checked the mailbox and it was there. Thank her for me, it was delicious..

Will do. See, I mail things to you.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I know what to expect as a welcome gift on the cruise next year :rotfl2:

You expect your welcome gift to be a picture of a cake? You got it.

Well done... obviously takes after her mom.

I give her mom the credit, but cooking is one of my gifts. Not trained professionally in the kitchen, but worked in a deli/bakery in HS and college. Unfortunately, I'm also a very good eater.

I enjoyed following Lauren's quotes on FB.

It looks bad and prayers that you'll have a decent enough yield. I don't understand the market. I read where the supply of lobster is huge right now, but the cost of lobster has not decreased at restaurants.

Jo and I just gotta get outta the little funk we're in now. We had finally started turning a corner in a lot of things, includung $$ and might have been set back kinda bites. We really do want a house someday. Other then that things are fine.

Again, blessings that everyone was not severely injured. Just keep trying. DW and I read Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. We try but fall off the wagon. Hang in there.
