I saw that as well, it baffled my mind. I have a hard enough time getting my 11 month old to sleep in a quiet, dark room, never mind in front of a 40 foot movie screen with deafening audio!

When I went to the midnight show of Spiderman, there was a baby 2 rows in front of me. I sure wouldn't have done that for fear of waking the kid. But the baby slept through the whole thing.

‘Morning all…

But then again, Y’all generally ignore what I say anyway so I guess my commentary has been pointless all along. That being the case, you can ignore the following…

I took yesterday off to take my son on the first of several planed collage campus tours. The three hour drive out, several hours on campus and three more back home made for a long day, but it was still very interesting. It was also interesting to spend that much time alone with my now nearly grown boy without the distractions of friends, commitments or video to interfere. His incites and reactions to much of what we encountered yesterday left me feeling pretty confident that we just may have raised a pretty dang good guy. I’ve always suspected we were doing a decent job at our primary task as parents, but now I’m really starting to see all that work being put into action. I’d call that a fine day.

Good Job! I can only hope to feel the same some day.

I saw this a while back. Didn't get to see it actually happen live though. That would have been cool.

Sitting here listening to D-Cot and this unfamiliar tune comes on... Magic Journeys?? I looked this up and now I know why it's not familiar. It was closed before my very first visit to WDW. Anyone here remember this 3D attraction? Was it any good?

I have fond memories of Magic Journeys. It was something we did each trip when I was a younger. It was basic 3D movie. Nothing compared to some of the 4D stuff they do now.

why not, my state taxes paid for one and not to mention the massive cover up. "but they did everything they could" but dont worry, all the law suits and legal stuff coming up wont cost the students or the tax payer a dime. :thumbsup2

And that truly is the saddest part. The current students and taxpayers will continue to pay, while all the high paid criminals involved, and yes, they covered up a crime, will escape. Sure, they may get a guilty conviction but they escape with their $250K salaries per year for the last decade. But, it is a good lesson to teach current students - you have to pay more unless your at the top, then there is no accountability.

First off…
Thanks to all of ya’ for the kind words.

I ain’t in the running for parent of the year at this point, but it is reassuring to see that my main goal (that of raising a child that would not turn out to be an idiot), seems to be on course.

For the moment… we haven’t cross the finish line just yet.

You helped prepare a child to transition to adulthood and gave that soon to be adult the tools to make it. That my friend, is winning the race.

On a side note… the thing that most floored me as my son and I were talking yesterday was his pronouncement that he probably wouldn’t bring his x-Box with him if he moves into a dorm. He said that there would already be so many distractions that it would be hard enough to study in the first place.
it.

Either a great amount of insight or he's setting you up. I'm afraid my dds will act like I did in college. Really scary.

Well done sir. :thumbsup2

My kids are 15 years and two months from going to college but I'm not counting. :rotfl2:

Yikes. You've got some young ens. Enjoy them.

I remembered all the times she rode the carousel at the World including the first time when she was 18 months old and her mother was holding on to her. She was at a sleep over at a girlfriend's house last night and in light of events this morning, she will get an extra long hug when she gets home. Of course her reaction will be, "Daaaad."

A very proud papa. Great picture.

Smart man! [Chuck Norris Jokes]

I got back from The Dark Night Rises about an hour ago. A good film but one terribly disturbing part in the previews. This isn't really a spoiler so keep reading. There is a movie coming out (the name escapes me) about Mcikey Cohen. He was a big-time gangster in the '30s in L.A. Movie will have Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling and others. Well there was one part in the trailer where the bad guys get up in a movie theatre behind the screens where the crowd can't see them and open fire through the screen on a theatre full of people. Very unsettling to see that. A bunch of us just looked at each other. In all fairness, I guess they couldn't pull that trailer in time. But I'll bet anything it will be gone from theatres soon and that scene in the movie will probably be replaced.

I was thinking of all the university presidents and others involved. They probably make more. Not only should the statue come down, but all the wins should be vacated. I hear people say the NCAA doesn't have jurisdiction, but Penn State football certainly gained a competitive advantage in recruiting? If they had told, who would want to go play football and child molester university?

NCAA has jurisdiction because the football program was involved. I would not be surprised if PSU got the death penalty. Also there's a bigger fish to fry. If PSU officials violated the Cleary Act (I believe that's the name) requiring school official report felonies to DOJ they could lose DOE accreditation and get kicked out of the NCAA.

Not related to Bacon but I want this!!!

Ok, I think there needs to be a battle shots tournament at the convention in January. :thumbsup2

Good idea Andy. But we need to man up the tournament. The shot glasses need to be filled with Beverly.

This year looks like it will be almost nightmarishly complicated. I’m still trying to figure out how to pay for the collage education I want him to have much less go through the process of getting him accepted. That and an already very full senior year calendar (which gets started Monday) have got me going in circles the better part of nearly every day already.:scared:

In our own way, everyone I know here is parent of the year.

Facing a lot of decisions, paperwork and ways to finance at least some of it. PM me if you need a sounding board or drinking buddy. Senior year though is fun for the kids and parents.

On occasion? Now that is funny.

Which will hurt the current students and the regular people who work there, while the millionare officials will ride off into the sunset.
