Had a bad day at work yesterday. We have a new OM and he is making a lot of changes. I then had a late meeting about some of the changes and was told if I don't like them I can move to the warehouse or find a new job.
Now this morning had to bring my 17 year old cat who hasn't been doing well this week to the vet to be put down. She wasn't really moving well and as of two days ago we didn't think she could see anymore. All here are really broken up it is never easy for kids to lose a pet. I was obviously sad but to see my girls hearts break was harder on me.

Oh right 5" of heavy snow thurs night, cleaned it up then they owed yesterday, covered the end of my driveway with one foot of frozen ice chinks some at least 75-100 lbs. Didn't get home till 8 and had to clean that up. Ahhh spring in Wisconsin.

Job, pet, and snow. You've had a bad run of it. We had to put a cat down. It was hard for my two dds. But, it helps to teach them about life and death. Hope it improves at work.

I'm sorry but it leads to a funny story we had my daughter first and when wife got pregnent again I said if it is a girl i'm building a big dog house outside big enough for my TV and thats where i was going to live , peace quite no that time again 3times over

Even the cat we still have is a girl. I have my bonus room filled with Disney stuff, TV, stereo, and computer. So, I have a place to hide, but it is still infiltrated quite often.

well, my kids are still fun.

And that's what keeps us going.

I showed it to my DW and then we both tried to stay quiet. My DD's still don't know we're going!

We drove from KY to FL and my dds didn't figure it out. But, in their defense, we did drive at night, only to wake them for gas refills. So, they were groggy. Finally, DW couldn't keep the secret and told them an hour outside WDW.

And I'm back home.

I just spent Wed-Saturday at Coronado Springs. With only 1 park day, I really didn't think i'd have enough material for a trip report. But, I took 306 pictures, so I might.

Most interesting thing I learned: I don't really like dole whip floats. I loved the orange Dole Whip I had in December, but the pineapple float? Not so much.

Yes, we enjoy our resort time and park time. Glad you had a great trip. Now,I have never had a dole whip float as I don't have the desire. I like the pineapple/ vanilla soft serve.

Home from last basketball game of the season. We won by 2. It was a close game. My younger one did not have a good game, and while the oldest only had one basket, she played great defense, running back to stop their fast break. I am a defensive coach and installed that a few games back which helped us get out 4-2-2 season. Just as this sport ends, I have been coordinating rosters for soccer season starting March 17. Dave, mark it on your heckle calendar.

Well I might have been a bit premature with my assessment. She was due at the school by 7:15 to catch the bus to the event. I was nice and bribed her with breakfast at McD's if she was up at 6:00 or so. She called a few minutes after 8:00 as she thought she had left the team's camera in my truck. It would be hard to take crime scene photos without a camera.

After her frantic call to me, I checked my truck and no phone. It appears she left it in a friends parents vehicle as she got into their van while waiting for the rest of the team and bus after I dropped her off. Why she did not leave the camera in her purse, I do not know. This is the same DD who had 2 iPod Touch lost or stolen in less than 2 months at school. And she wonders why we don't want to buy her any high ticket items?

I have an explanation on the missing camera. She had the camera in her purse and since it was windy and cold, while she was waiting she was in her friend's dad's van and someone (either her or her friend) knocked over her purse and they did not notice the camera slid out the side. She had the camera for the last two days to practice her photography skills.

She was an alternate and was not needed this time, but she still came home with a fingerprinting kit. I guess the squad has more than one team as one of the teams took 1st place. She wants to get into Forensics and is planning/hoping to go to U of Knoxville. We keep telling her she can do this, but she must first show she can complete courses in HS. The trouble is she is quite smart and when she was in 5th grade she was moved into a GATE class where the teacher had no control over the students so she didn't do any work but was still moved up to 6th grade (Middle School). She was in pre-AP and flunked everything in 6th, 7th, and 8th, with the possible exception of band and was still moved up to the next grade level (over my objections). Now that she is a Senior, she realizes she should not of slacked off all these years but she still is not doing the homework assigned. The School District in their brilliance, decided that homework cannot be used to determine grades, only how a student scores on tests of whatever learning standard they are working on. Furthermore, a student must show passing of the standard on two separate tests and if they do not pass one of these assessments they have the right to retake the tests (board did not say how many times they can retest so some students retake the tests 8 to 10 times). Obviously if the student is not doing the homework (practice) they are not learning the material. The teachers and most of the parents do not like this approach to learning as the students are not being held accountable for anything.

Sorry for the long rant. Fortunately the younger DD is seeing what can happen and is currently on the Honor Roll at her Middle School (7th Grade) for the 3rd straight semester and I think for the 6th straight grading period. Her plans are to go to USC (sorry Fed, not Carolina) and major in Journalism then go work at WDW and transfer into one of Disney's jobs in the field.

Got a degree there. I would recommend it. My lab overlooked the stadium, but not the field. Still impressive hearing the Pride of The Southland playing Rocky Top on Saturdays.

Really sorry to hear about your cat. I had to put ours down a couple of years agp, it was rough. I was on nights, so I did it all in the morning, before DW and kids got home, DW couldn't handle it at all. But it sounds like it was for the best, no need to have the pet suffering, you did what was best, out of love and loyalty.

Evening all...hope all had a good Saturday. Work was....quiet, REALLY quiet, not really busy at all. It was strange to use a Sat. shift to do catch-up work, but gotta keep busy. Managed to finish off our inventory counts this morning too, boss was pleased as hell, but really, there is no way I should be responsible for counting 80% of the store myself. Next up is the year end counts in a month (procedure is, a count each quarter, plus the big one at year's end), which he and I have to co-ordinate. This makes me edgy, I have done counts no probs, but never set up the year-end one up (different procedures used), so there is a bit of pressure to get it right. I should be able to do it, but there is always that little bit of self-doubt when toying with programs I'm not familiar with.

Hey gang!

Missed a lot over the past few days...

Just dropped in to ask for a few prayers, as I know you all come through.

I need prayers for my family especially my Step-Mother as my step-brother passed away last night at the ripe old age of 39. I say step-brother but as I grew up with him brother is more what he is to me.

My step-mom has now had to witness the loss of her second child with one more with the same condition as my other 2 brothers. I really feel for her as I could not imagine withnessing the loss of even one child.

I know a few prayers would help. The best thing is that he is no longer in pain and in a much better place.

I see many other dads are going through tough times as well and as I pray today and tonight i will also include everyone else in those prayers.

A great return day. I see an job posting for the exact same position I currently have. It is an additional opening. But, I notice the high end of the pay range is 2K more than I make. So, I call my boss and HR and ask if I can apply for that job, use my experience to get the 2K raise. Their answer was that would be a lateral transfer and I would have to keep my same pay. So, instead of working today, I caught up on the 100 pages of the commando thread. Peanut butter, Beverly.....

That's some beverly if I've ever seen it.


Enjoyed being home with the family for the first time since Monday. Paycheck yesterday was still wrong. I figure it will take them more than a week to sort it out... and if they don't, well, I am not going to go out of my way to point it out again. Once was enough.

In vacation news, we switched one of our ADRs. On DD's BBB day, we had originally planned to spend the morning at MK, then hop over to EPCOT for dinner at Akershus with the whole group (currently 17 people). Well, that restaurant cannot accomodate that large a party, so we initially split our group and made two separate rezzies for the same time. After thinking about it and doing more research, we called and switched to 1900 Park Fare, which can accommodate our large party under one reservation. On top of that we got the time we wanted (6pm, as opposed to 5:15 at Akershus.) And that changes our plans a bit because we'll now stay at MK that entire day and go back to EPCOT on our last day of the trip.

Lady Spartans couldn't pull it out. They led in the 4th qtr, and had multiple chances to win but lost by 3. Too many turnovers and mistakes to make up for. They took it pretty hard because they know they could have played beter and should have won. Hopefully a learning experience for the underclassmen, but feel bad for the seniors. You could tell they wanted it and one of them really tried to take over and carry the team on her back.

Many of you passed this milestone long ago. As you can see I’ve been around for a few years and I have actually been very consistent in visiting the boards the whole time. So why did it take me this long to get to 1000 posts?

DW used to be on the boards regularly as well and while combing through the Family Boards one day, she came across a thread where the original poster was asking if there were Dads out there that were as fanatical about Disney as he was. I knew that this was a group that I belonged to but I never would have imagined that it would have grown to what it is today with over 600 members, a Facebook presence, website, podcast, and a whole sub-forum for just us dads to hang out in. I can remember when it took a week or more to fill up one page in the original thread.

A great thing about this club is that we can respect each other’s differences and keep the drama down, but the best thing about this group is the people in it. While I have never had the opportunity to meet any of you in person, I feel that I know many of you as if we had met and look forward to the day when we really can.

I used to visit other areas of the boards like the Theme Parks forum. Now it’s pretty much just the DisDads club and an occasional visit over to the cruising forum. I feel lucky to have so many friends here and while I don’t post that much and have never been a part of closing a thread down, I enjoy hanging out here almost every day.

I enjoy reading along with each of your adventures in life and living vicariously through your trips to the world when I can’t be there (even though I may be very envious). I follow along with your triumphs and pray during your tragedies. I’m enjoying watching your kids grow and am amazed at how similar things can be in my own house.

While I may never have the highest posting stats, and bacon has never made it long enough in my house to get a picture taken, I’m glad to be a part of this group. You are a great bunch of guys and I am proud to call myself a DisDad.
