Have you calculated the number of points you would need for the year round stay?

Care to translate that into dollars and cents?

Because I'm clearly too lazy to do it myself. :rotfl2:

To rent that many points @ $13 a point = $150,917 for the year. :thumbsup2

OKW is cheaper @ ONLY 10385 for the same 1 bedroom, same time frame

if you can buy that many points at about $120/point, it would be $1,246,200 plus yearly dues and maintenance fees on those points. Then you could stay there all year each year until your contract is up.

Have you calculated the number of points you would need for the year round stay?

And the next step is the cost comparison between year long DVC and a home at Golden Oaks.:thumbsup2

Unfortunately you can't own more than 5,000 DVC points in total (2,000 at an individual resort)...

So you'd need to buddy up with a couple other people and live together to make it happen! :thumbsup2

Hmmm... if that's the case, then you'd need a 2 bedroom if you plan to live there the whole year. The one bedroom might be a bit cozy.:rotfl2:

That would require more points though, throwing a kink in the equation.

That's going to up the points though, and necessitate another roomie! :rotfl2:

Took DW and the kids out for an early Mother's Day lunch today and saved $20 over what we would have to pay for the same thing on Sunday. She is slowly starting to see the wisdom of this and will get her presents then.

Before we had kids we would celebrate Orthodox Christmas to take advantage of the after Christmas mark downs.:rotfl:

Genius!!!:thumbsup2

:scared1: Quick! Go buy her a vacuum cleaner!
Oh well. Having the time off from work is still a good thing.

Ah, the vacuum cleaner. Almost as good a present as a plunger or toilet bowl cleaner. And, yes, any time off work is a good thing.

Problem with Golden Oaks is you own the house but not the land underneath it. So, it's kinda like living in a trailer park.

What a great discussion. Don't forget annual dues of another $50K or so.

Unfortunately you can't own more than 5,000 DVC points in total (2,000 at an individual resort)...

Who said that?

Great thinking. Could apply this to all holidays. So, we're not celebrating Valentine's Day late, it's early for next year and 50% off.

I hate to break this to you, but you can't go to Jellystone to see Yogi Bear.... Yogi has long since retired and now lives in Beverly Hills.
!

Maybe he's on the Beverly Hills tour.

I think I've got an idea...but I won't share it here since she might be reading it

:rotfl2:

Just not brave enough post like my DW? I hear ya. Only post presents after you have given them.

DW is on here too. As far as I know, she doesn't wander into the clubhouse. :confused3

She does. You just don't know.

We just closed on our refi yesterday. I am so glad that was over. I had to return over 15 emails with Chase and numerous phone calls to get all our information together for the refi. Went from a 30yr @ 5.5% to a 15yr @ 3.25%, raised our payment by $100 a month, but we will end up saving about $138K and be done paying while Juliana is in college and Christopher is about to enter.

Sounds good. We have 10 years left on our loan. I have thought about a refi, but don't know if the bank will give me a 10 year mortgage loan. It's worth a call.

Mine allows conversions... don't have to jump through all the hoops of refinancing. I've done a conversion every year for the last 3 years and what it has cost me out of pocket to do it has been approximately what it saved me on interest for that year's payment alone. I've managed to knock 3.5 points off over the last 3 conversions. I might need to call in sometime soon and see if it will be worthwhile to try to do another conversion.

I was able to take the ipad to work today for the first time, and i have to admit that I got a lot done today. I was able to get thru several levels of Angry Birds.

So, the staycation plans didn't get far. DW texted and asked me about our DVC points. Granted, May is still off limits, but she wants to plan for future vacation. We only have 35 points this year and we have the cruise in 2013. So, with a variety of banking/ borrowing possibilities, here are the options. So, I did three different excel spread sheets with the different options thru 2016 assuming point charts that haven't been released.

Option #1 - Three studio vacations in 2014, with a summer vacation week atAKV, OKW, SSR, or VBR. Spring Break is at BWV and Fall Break is at BLT.

Option #2 - Two vacations in 2014. Spring Break at BWV. Fall Break in 1 BR at AKV or OKW.

Both options are very appealing. 3 vacations sound great. But, staying in a 1 BR sounds great.

Not sure if mine will do that. I will call them and ask though. Thanks.
