Anyone else have a DW who believes the dishwasher is for dish storage? The dishwasher gets done running, but she leave the dishes in the dishwasher and the sink piles up. Then, I come along, empty the dishwasher, re-load it with all the dishes in the sink, and re-start it. The clean dishes will sit there again.

Repeat pattern for 11 years.

Here, only I only take stuff out of the washer when I need it.

My DW seems to think that the kitchen garbage is some sort of infinite bag of holding, that she can keep stuffing and stuffing things into no matter how full it is. And when that no longer works, suddenly it becomes a game of garbage Jenga on top of the can.

You remember that episode of the Simpsons where Homer stapled the banana peel to the side of the garbage can so he didn't have to take it out? That's DW.

Okay guys, who here uses SKYPE, either on occasion or regularly? DD17 set herself up with an account when we came back from our Baltic cruise in 2010 so she could talk to her boyfriend in England. I will say that I rather enjoyed the relationship while it lasted. I liked the fact that he was 8000 miles away, plus the fact was that he is a real nice guy.

Anyway, back on task, those who use SKYPE, what are your opinions on it?

I have facetime on the iphone, which is owned by skype I think? Ive only used it to mess around with it. never actually used skype, if I moved away from someone, that probably means I dont want to talk to them! Although to be fair, my whole family lives in CT and everything is no longer than an hour away. My wife won't let me move away. She has some weird thing about being too far from her mother in law... WEIRD.


Hmmm that was a rant i guess.

We use Skype to record the podcast, and it's worked very well. I do know that some people have started having lots of problems with it. Here's a little background that may help explain why people are suddenly having more problems.

Microsoft bought Skype in May of 2011. But it was a VERY sloppy deal. All they really bought was the Skype name and the customer accounts. They didn't buy any of the underlying IP. So Microsoft has essentially retro-fitted Skype with Microsoft code. Sorry to any Microsofty Dads here, but it's no surprise to me that since Microsoft has taken over, Skype has become more bloated and buggier software.

FaceTime is a completely separate technological solution to the same problem Skype solves - device-to-device video communications. It was developed by Apple, and currently only runs on Apple iDevices and Mac computers. Apple has said that the standard will be "open", but that haven't really explained what they mean by that just yet, and I don't know of any current effort to port FaceTime to other manufacturers' devices.

Yup, I'm the trash man too. The flip top lid won't close, but DW keeps hanging trash on it until I take it out.

Laundry is my responsibility. Emptying her pockets is how I get money for my snack drawer in my desk.

I do the bills and give her cash. She spends it all and then uses the credit card for emergency Coca-Cola at McDonald's.

Still waiting on the school closing. They are slow tonight.

None announced here either. Personally, I hope there is no closing. We went thru June last year and had 10 days of parties.

No. our dishwasher is DD17. The one that is installed quit a few years back after only a couple of years use. I think that it is bad wiring (NO I have not figured out where the live current came from when the downstairs bath flooded) and we will get around to replacing it someday. I want to redo the whole kitchen, so maybe after I find a job.

Dinner in Washington is Stir Fry Beef and Fried Rice. Bought one of the SodaStream machines last week and will probably make a litre (sorry when I use Metric, I revert to European spelling) of soda.

They have a self-serve machine at Captain Cook's that has pineapple, vanilla, or swirl. They give you a cup and you get to fill it up. I've been tempted to stick my head under there for a picture. I guess if you bought pineapple juice, then you could make yer own.

Thats what teens are for! DD1 does the dishes.. DS does the trash and the table and DD2 does the counters! And we deal with the teen DRAMA!! should have had 4!! Then we wouldn't have to cook!!

If any of you want to add me as a contact, my Skype name is DREWDACOSTA as I used ANDREWDACOSTA when I set up DD12, who still talks to the younger brother of DD17th exboyfriend in UK. I too use Apple products (DD17 has a DELL Laptop that gives us fits, but it was only $300 or so) but have not tried the FaceTime App as I didnt know I had so many Apple friends. Here in the land of perpetual clouds, most deal with the large company situated across Lake Washington.
They employ almost as many people as Boeing.

Yup, that too. I wash the clothes and DW leaves them in the dryer. I really wouldn't care except I had to buy her a bunch of furniture to hold all those clothes.

furniture? Exercise Equipement is a much better laundry holder
