I will not eat after 7 pm
i will not eat too much junk!

Good Morning all! I will do this! I went shopping yesterday and my family will participate, even if it is kicking and screaming!! :rotfl2: The kids have already commited to eat more fruit and gave me their requests before I went to the grocery. THey also requested Pop Tarts and Donuts and Capn Crunch! AARRGH!!

Welcome Chris! Wish DH had your commitment! :goodvibes

Good Luck Everyone!

I just went into our basement and did 7 minutes on the treadmill and 7 minutes on the cardio cruiser...i know it doesnt seem like much, but i figured i would start low and add a minute each day so i can gradually work myself up..does that seem like it would work or is it just weird??

Sounds perfectly normal to me. :teeth:

Thanks for the welcome.

As promised my official weigh in is 226 lbs. I just cooked a bunch of bacon to snack on today as that's my favorite snack on Atkins. My goal weight is 190 lbs.

Blueeyes That is the best way to start exercising. Start off slow and add to it. You don't want to stress your body too much. We plan on going for a brisk walk outdoors for at least 10 minutes, but I bet we'll walk a mile and it will probably take 20. It is cold here so when I mean brisk I really mean brisk. 26 degrees. :earboy2:

Chris

Okay, here we go...My 2006 starting weight is 216.

My first goal is to be in the 100s by the time we go visit my family in mid-February.

Today, I am going out to buy 4 - 24oz refillable water bottles to drink each day to track my water intake. I am also working on planning out our meals for the week so that we can hit the grocery store today or tomorrow. Which brings me to my second goal...

I will actually EAT the healthy food that I buy. My last few intentions ended with expired yogurt in the trash and my eating McGriddles for breakfast.

My exercise goal is 15 minutes a day in addition to my walking getting to/from work.

Oprah says start out slowly then add a minute or two weekly. Good Plan!

Now, It is 12:30. I have not eaten yet. Why? I am almost afraid to! I will need to make lunch for the kids in a bit. I think I'll do salad with Chicken for DH and me.

I filled a pitcher with my water and will drink it daily!

Oh My this isn't gonna be easy! I am cleaning up and there are still so many Christmas sweets around! I am throwing lots away and banishing others to the kids stash!

I just found this thread and I am in with the rest of you My starting weight is 228. And I would love to do the National Body challenge. I need to lose 80 lbs. I have a treadmill and an Elipptical so I am challenging myself to at least 30 minutes a day on one of them and giving up the junk food. This morning I went through the fridge and cupboard and got rid of all of the cookies and junk food from Christmas. Ready to start Fresh and alot healthier.
I Look forward to talking with all of you.
Traci

Welcome Traci! Good Job getting rid of all the junk. I am definitely cutting back on the junk in my house. But I have 3 kids. Oh Well.

I am having a delicious sald for lunch and yes it really is quite good.

Hello! I'm joining in, but just a bit later. We have residency interviews all week and are taken out to breakfast, lunch, dinner etc nearly every day. I'll be away from home from the 3rd through the 10th.

But the weighing, tracking, etc won't start until January 11th. I'm breaking my Monday Diet cycle  but it's the first time I'll have access to the gym, etc. Maybe I'll do some jumping jacks or situps in the hotel :rotfl:

But I'll be here and working with you all starting the 11th. My goal is more working out than dieting. I struggled throughout middle school and high school with an eating disorder (I was an almost-full-time dancer, big surprise that that followed).

(Ballet.... nothing dirty, DDAs :rotfl: )
So I know myself, and try not to start down the same controlling path when it comes to food......

Side note: You'll be happy to know though, that -- physically -- I'm more than recovered. I weighed about 95 pounds in high school and the first part of college (yuck) and have gained QUITE enough since then. My ultimate goal would be to lose 25-30 pounds, which would put me smack dab in the middle of my ideal weight range. I weigh myself weekly at the gym (when I'm working out reguarly) but that's it. So HOPEFULLY my focus is not going to be as much on pounds but on working out 5 times a week.

Good luck to all of you.... YOU CAN DO IT!

Jennifer, Please be carful and focus on the healthy part!

I wanted to tell you that my DH is a Doctor. He went back to Med School at 30. We are 18 months out of residency. I want to wish you lots of luck ont he interviews and the big decisions you need to make.

What kind of medicine? Where are you looking? My Dh graduated from Univ of Cinicinnati and we did residency in Detroit (YUC) now he is an Ophthalmologist in South Carolina.

Anyway, GOOD LUCK!

It's nice to see so many people checking in and starting strong. We will be going for our walk shortly and have been very good in the food dept. I've drank 16 oz of water so only 3 more bottles to go. Can't wait to hear how everyone's first day went. Stay strong.

I will be careful, thank you. If not my mom and DH are here to knock some sense into me. They're pretty quick about that :rotfl:

Kyle is doing his residency in Medicine-Pediatrics. He'll be double board certified. He is also at UC (Cincinnati), maybe he knew your DH? We are looking all over (14 cities total), but only as far west as Minneapolis. Some thread around here has our list, but I'm sure I'll fill all you DDAs in when we rank. YIKES! Tell me how bad Match Day is.... were you nervous at all? :earseek: I didn't think I would be, but now I'm alternating being really excited and quite freaked out. I think I'll feel better once we rank, knowing that UC grads get pretty good spots. And knowing that everywhere we rank we will have visited and be ok with.

ETA: Nevermind. I was thinking of 18 months into residency, which would have put Kyle in school with your DH. They missed each other by a few years :goodvibes

Thanks everyone that commented--starting slower sounds good...ill add a minute every 2 days/workouts maybe..im glad to get started on this!

we're back. We ended up walking for 30 minutes and did 1 1/2 miles. Not too bad for our first day. We have rosy cheeks and wet cuffs to prove it. Not great weather here. Now to prepare a healthy dinner.

Deb
