DDA Chapter 8

It appears that a hasty departure from WDW would cost about $450 round trip. And that's just ME leaving - DS and DH would stay at WDW. Yikes. :scared1:

I think I need some DDA pixie dust that everything goes REALLY WELL on Tuesday, and that Mom's follow up treatment won't involve too many brutal procedures and chemicals.

Hi everyone! Back from Detroit and the bridal shower! I'll have pictures to show shortly!
Can't stay long, but I know I missed a lot from my quick quote review above, but pixiedust: for everyone!!!

Happy Fathers Day!

Yea pictures :yay: Hope you had a great time!

I'm leaving the crinoline as is. The detailing on the dress is clear and mirrored-like beading - so the silver shoes would probably work better. I just don't like the "shiny" silver. I'm not sure if they are dyable.
My problem is I want a comfortable low heeled WIDE shoe. Apparently the "wide" is the problem everywhere I look. :confused3
Elizabeth - haven't tried them on yet, but with free shipping each way with this company, I think I'll be OK - last time I bought shoes the shipping/return policy was a breeze.

:scared1: MORE clothes for the suitcase now! :faint: ;)

I ended up buying square dance shoes to wear with my wedding dress. They had a low heel on them and were very comfortable. That was most important to me.

Elin, what lovely gifts!

Heidi, I'm sorry about your uncle. Congratulations to your cousin!

Vicki and Kristine, now that is a fun way to run into each other! (Though it doesn't top the time I saw Lindsay guiding her group with a Coke bottle over her head. :rotfl: ) Nice picture!

Deb, sorry work is so slow. I know the few times we've eaten out lately, our servers seem very grateful we're there!

It was my first time (as an adult) on the Dumbo ride. I only rode it because we were recreating a picture of the my sister and I when we were there when I was 15 and she 8. Katrina and Mom got some pictures of us. Kristine also took one as she sat in the Dumbo in front of us.

Deb - you have bug problems, I have mold problems. I have someone coming on Monday to give us an estimate on the damage, which I know is going to be huge. Because the humidity that hit so early this year the mold has really popped in our basement to the point where it's causing my friend who lives with us is getting sick. She's staying at another friends for now. This should be fun. :headache:

Hope they can clear it up & it won't be too costly.

The boys had a half day today. Hunter's class had a field day and Nick's did some track and field stuff and had an awards assembly (which parent's knew nothing about). Nick has been sweating it out this quarter as teacherease was showing some B's. He said they did honors first and he wasn't called up so he assumed that he must have gotten a C. I am happy to report that he was wrong and he got High Honors for the 4th consecutive quarter. We are so proud of him.

He also took 5th place in the shotput event which he was also proud of.
way to go Hunter on High Honors

My niece and nephew ran into their neighbors for the 2nd time on this trip. They didn't know they were even coming as it was a surprise for the kids. The boy is my nephews age and is in kidney failure. He has had several transplants and they can't figure out why it keeps rejecting kidneys. He won't be allowed anymore unless they find out what is attacking them which means he has dialysis and probably won't live but a couple more years. They had a great time together. My nephew is one of the few kids that treats him normal. They had a great time together.
wow small world  to that family

Deb love the hair and the house

And did I mention that my perfectly happy baby has turned into a screaming monster the minute I leave her eyesight! The other 2 never ever went through this stage so it is new territory for me. And Mo I swear runs on empty all the time. She is beyond exhausted but has only been sleeping from 10pm til 6am, with no nap. It has made for some wonderful meltdowns!

I am sending out a ton of 's, :wizard: and :yay: for everyone. I will check back in tonight.

Have a great Saturday everyone!!
Both my girls have done this

I finished Joe's shirt:

I'll be there August 1-4. :rolleyes1 I wouldn't count on airfare staying the same. You should probably go ahead and book it NOW, then you will be forced to find a way to make the rest of it work. ;) I did get a DING today for the end of August - $227 round trip! I can't use it, but it is out there!

Oh, well, if Elin is going to SHARE...:bitelip:

What about the train? ;)

...

...I may have mentioned the train before, but I did notice a Ding! from BWI to MCO for end of July to end of August...;)

Taking the train from here would add at least two days to our trip, unfortunately! Besides, we have to fly out of here on a Friday morning and have to return on a Monday because I have to teach until Thursday evening and have to fly to Atlanta on Tuesday, August 5. That limits my choices for SW and so far there are no DING! fares that are any better than Airtran out of Richmond. Since Richmond is only about an hour away and Baltimore is 2 hours on a good day, I would choose the Airtran flights if we were to go. And, Elizabeth... I am not booking airfare until I can pay for a whole trip. ;) but I will share the pot of gold if I find one!

That could be a perfect choice, Chanon! :thumbsup2 Or possibly character shoes from a dance shop.

Fine, fine. But when August 1 rolls around, and I am at WDW and you are at home, don't say I didn't try to convince you! ;)

Oh No, too much family time :confused3 I'm seeing that in our near future. :lmao:

Yes, it was too much family time. The meal at WCC was horrible - not the meal but we were all stressed and had a blow-up. Overall, the trip was wonderful and we are glad we took it. However, I will never again go on a trip with my sister. She is just too high strung for me. I tried to remember that she is dealing with a lot right now related to the trial that just ended.

We are talking about taking my Aunt Lola (my favorite) and mom in March for part of the trip.

I'm beginning to worry a little about that myself. All 5 of us trapped in a minivan and then a single hotel room for 15 days. :scared1: :rotfl: Your "togetherness" will be much longer than ours, but we may end up more tired and crankier.

My sister and her kids realized how wonderful our two bedroom at OKW was when they spent the one night at Pop Century. Luckily, they only spent the one night there.

Kristin told me last night that she would love to go to WDW for her birthday in August. I could do it for $1000 plus food. Now, if only I could figure out how to come up with an additional $1000 during the time of year I barely get a paycheck...

What dates???? Anytime the rest of us are there?

Vicki...I am not sure we would ever go in June - August again either

Cedar Point was our family destination many summers when I was a kid. I grew up in Brighton about 40 miles out of Detroit. We went about 10 years ago with my kids since my sister lives within an hour of there. Chuck and the girls aren't real roller coaster enthusiasts (like my family was when I was growing up) so it was no big deal to them.
I'm a Kennywood kid, although I did make it Cedar Point/Geagua Lake/Sea Word a few times.

Deb, you look fantastic! (I haven't gone back anywhere, sorry, but saw a picture quoted).

Please, when I get back, let me know what I've missed since I feel like I have no idea what is going on anywhere outside of my own house, let alone all around the DDA! :rotfl:

We'll be leaving by 5 at the latest tomorrow, so I won't check in then... but I have given Amy permission to post anything I send her way (or anything she finds searching on the internet, if she so chooses to hunt me down should I be too slow ;)).

Take care! :goodvibes
Best wishes for a smooth delivery and a quick recovery! I can't wait to see those girls! :wizard: :wizard:
