Elizabeth, heck even the planes out of a small airport (Allentown) they give you the whole can of soda, or bottle of water. Guess If I ever go on a long flight I need to bring my own food.

Poor princess, hope her fingers are better by tomorrow. :wizard:

DH and I were saying we should bring the chips and cookies he gets for free at work and sell them on the plane. If we undercut the airline price by $1 on each item we would make a FORTUNE!

Thanks! She seems to have forgotten that they are THAT sore. She actually said she needed to use the potty, her diaper was dry, and she sat down and used the potty! :faint: I am so proud of her! And she is loving the M&Ms and fairy stickers!

Lindsay - I am SHOCKED that there is not food service on an EIGHT HOUR flight!! Holy cow! :scared1: What surprised me on Eagle was that they gave DS and me each the whole can of soda! On regular flights you just get as much soda as they can pour into the little cup of ice, and the rest of the can goes away on the cart!
I am sure if you were in a union you could lobby for a rest area! :rotfl:
If you want the whole can, ask for it. I do, and they always let me have it. After all, you did pay for it!

They'll probably say "Aren't you that girl with all the luggage? We left your soda back at the terminal!"

I actually like the idea of being charged for the weight of your body and your luggage added together. DS is so teeny I could bring a BUNCH of luggage and say it is his! :rotfl: If they are going to use a scanner to look at me naked then what's wrong with asking me to hop on a scale with my luggage? :confused3 (I noticed Dallas is on the list of airports to get the naked scanners. Can't wait!)

It's a lot of fun...but the food is nasty (okay not nasty but you pay for the atmosphere not the food). Jim and I are taking the 21st off so where ever you want to meet we will meet you. ::yes::

Here's a partial list of things we love to see in CO Springs:

Garden of the Gods (costs a little)
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (costs a little)
the Air Force Academy (no charge)
Cave of the Winds (can cost a lot!!)
Broadmoor Hotel for lookie looing
The Olympic Center (most parts free...except the ice skating rink)
Van Briggle Pottery...used to not cost anything
and a great park that is a re-telling of Colorado Springs history

there is more I just can't think of them:rotfl:

I would recommend going up at least a little way up Pikes Peak

food recommendations are iffy from me...I never can remember restaurant names:rotfl: Casa Bonita and White Fence Farm are great for "tourist" stuff.

I am happy that I might get to met another DDA'er....I promise we aren't stalking you...we were going to take the 21st off anyway.

Thanks! We already had Garden of the Gods, the Air Force Academy, and the Olympic Center on our list from my parents recommendations. I was also looking at driving Pike's Peak, though it does scare me a little. I'll let you know as it gets closer.

by going to the Garden of the Gods you will go up part of the way up Pikes Peak. Pikes Peak isn't the tallest Peak in CO it's the only one with a song/slogan attached to it:goodvibes

What I am saying is it's not that scary....it's a beautiful place to look out at the rest of Colorado though:goodvibes

o i loved cave of the winds--but i do think it was kinda pricy--the pictures we got were awesome though!

Tomorrow is the last day of school. What a year it has been, and I'm amazed at what my kids have learned. Alyssa learned how to read, and Nicholas learned double/triple digit addition and subtraction, some multiplication, and how to write in cursive, among many other things. Sorry, I'm just being reflective tonight.

They got in all of their outdoor activities that were canceled last week. Tomorrow is Field Day and then they have an early dismissal at 1PM.

I am working until noon tomorrow and then I am on vacation too!!!!! I'm taking off for the week, working the following week, and then taking off the next 3 weeks!!!! It's almost as exciting as leaving for WDW!!

That's cool! DS learned to read music and play the drums. I am sure he learned other stuff, too. His math is too complicated for me already. He already knew how to do Power Point because his teacher from last year used to teach 6th grade and wanted the kids to be ready.

I'm glad the kids got to have their festivities after the weather delays!

Yay for vacation!!
Those 11 working days without Princess went by FAST. This week is just plodding along. Tomorrow is the 7 week mark for our trip, and Mom has her surgery next Tuesday (theoretically). I leave for Kansas at dark o'clock next Thursday morning.

Take a picture for us, and we'll help you research to figure out what they are.

See my next post for an update.

I'm glad you enjoyed Cirque! We loved it last year!

I don't need to call anyone. I just post it here and POOF! 30 or so of my friends know all at the same time! :rotfl2:

Hmm. So maybe the UG was talking about something other than just swimming across. :confused3

#3 is my favorite! :)

I'm glad he will be able to wear most of them! :goodvibes

Did you look under "Pest control"?

Mmmm. Donuts! :hyper:
I don't know about the split stay. Want me to call you on August 17 and tell you my answer? :rotfl2: If we had a car (or planned to rent a car) then moving wouldn't be a big deal. As it stands now, moving 3 times is going to be a pain. AKL is fabulous, which is why we bought DVC there. We liked WL well enough last year, but we were sad we didn't book AKL. I have always wanted to try CR, so if there was an incredible AP rate (like the one for June/July) it would be hard to resist.

I wish DS HAD a summer reading list! I guess we'll go to the library and see what the private schools require. There is a big binder with all of the different private school lists. DS is sort of reading the Narnia series, but he isn't really into it.
I think surly is just a 12 year old thing.
DS seems to do a little better on the days he takes a Focalin. We don't like to have him on meds in the summer, but his attitude seems better. The pharmacist told me we shouldn't go cold turkey on the meds anyway, so flat out stopping for the summer isn't good idea. He goes to the Dr. next month so we'll see what he has to say as far as DS's growth and meds and so forth.

Princess used the potty today for the very first time! I think it is because she swallowed so much pool water! I was very proud of her.
I feel bad because her little fingers are raw from "monkey walking" along the edge of the pool. :( She told me her finger had an ouch, and when I looked her fingers were bleeding! :scared1: Hopefully they won't be sore for too long! She also skinned her knee, and she has what looks like an ant bite on her wrist. Rough day outside!

Yeah for princess on the potty training. Hopefully the fingers heal quickly.

Sounds like a wonderful start to the summer. The kids will truly appreciate having extra time with you this summer.

So I need to finish gathering my stuff for Relay and work. I am working at the close office at some point tomorrow, instead of where I normally work. Relay starts at noon. Not sure when I will head over. I might show up to Relay and take an afternoon nap. :goodvibes :rotfl2: It goes to noon Saturday and I have other plans Saturday afternoon.

I made some calls for guitar lessons today. I have to figure out if I can select a time to work on a weekly basis. Then I need to call them back with a few times and they have to call me back with teacher's that may be able to accommodate me. As all the teachers make their own schedule at the one place and the other needs that information to check the schedule sheet. I think it would be easier if they knew when their are spaces and they could tell me when they have openings. But whatever, if it is meant to be it will happen.

I wish my mosquito bites would go away. At least the softball sized swelling is gone, now they just itch.

I should get gathering, or packing or sleeping. Instead of watching Last Comic Standing and being a bum. But that is way more fun.

I have identified our pests they are Larder Beetles

The Adult

I called a local pest control place and they had an appointment available for tomorrow. I took it. Of course that meant completely changing my entire day today. I had to find someone to work for me tonight in order to get all of the required preparation done. I ended up babysitting for a coworker so that she could work for me. Thankfully her son was very easy and I was able to plug along the entire time he was here.

They require that everything in your cupboards/pantry be removed from the original packaging and placed in airtight resealable containers such as tupperware. This of course meant a trip to the store to stock up on more containers. I already had about 50% of our cupboards in airtight containers, but not absolutely everything. After purchasing the containers I had to completely clear the cupboards, place everything in the containers then try to fit things back into the cupboards. We did EVERY cupboard just to make sure no little guys were hiding and that we had gotten rid of every crumb etc. I only found on beetle in one drawer, but she had several tiny larvae crawling around near her. The weird thing was it was in the drawer that holds are baggies and wraps. Not a food drawer :confused3 I thought I did a good job removing all of them, but a couple of hours later I found more babies that must have been hiding in the cracks. My Mom came down and worked in Colby's room finishing hauling out the rest of the kitchen stuff and putting away stuff that he had dragged out during the rennovations. After she left I went in and put things where they belonged and vacuumed and mopped. Thankfully I didn't find any more critters, but the first 5 were more than enough.

Tomorrow I need to finish a few more things in the kitchen and get the rest of the kitchen stuff out of our room. I'm praying that I don't find any in there. Of course from what I've read they eat everything and anything and can fly as well as crawl so they could be anywhere from attic to cellar to in the walls. The exterminator cannot come soon enough. Oh after I called for the beetle problem ants started invading the living room through the slider. We have never had ants, but we never had an attached deck either. I'll have that addressed tomorrow too.

Poor princess, hope her fingers are better by tomorrow. :wizard:

I wish this was true. Unfortunately on Allegiant Air you get the whole can of soda but you pay for it. No food or drink is included.

Good luck with the bugs, Deb. I hope they all are killed!
