DDA Chapter 7

What's the price per point?

You may want to compare that to the current disney incentive...

$79 per point, with a finance rate of 10.96%, no penalty for paying it off early. And since we have until January we'll have more set aside for the down payment than we would if we were closing in a few weeks.

Disney's finance rate can be as high as 14.96% if you don't qualify for the "preferred" rate.

I saw that people adding on at SSR are getting extra points plus a $500 gift card, but I don't know what they are paying per point.

I just got off of the phone with DVC and this is what they told me:

They are selling the last 3% of SSR.
160 points goes for $16640.
December UY
You get 160 pounts to use this year.
$10 credit a point
$500 gift card
No dues this year
Annual dues are $673.

For AKV:

160 points goes for $16,640
June UY
160 points for SSR for this year. Use or lose. They can also be transferred to II for a $95 fee.
$8 credit a point.
Annual dues are $750

I forgot to ask if there were any annual dues for AKV this year. And I didn't get clarification on if buying a real estate interest in SSR meant that it was your home resort or not.

I found this post that outlines the current deals. It's $3200 higher than the resale we are looking at, plus the potential for a much higher interest rate. The extra 160 points would be nice, but I could rent 160 points for way less than $3200, buy myself a $500 gift card, and be in basically the same spot! :rotfl2:

You are going to love DVC!!! There will be no stopping you then!!! :rotfl2:

So I have injured my back...and I can barely move....this is the pits. I have taken every imaginable drug and have gotten no relief!

You may want to think about buying where you want to stay....it seems to be getting more difficult to reserve at the 7 month window....unless you want to stay at OKW or SSR
Not even OKW anymore. I booked at 7 months for the first week of Dec. and had to waitlist.

Does anyone have a whirlpool front loading washing machine? I am thinking of buying this one

That is what worries me...there seems o be a large influx of new owners....and it's getting harder and harder to get things at that 7 month window....that's why my motto is buy where you want to stay

How did you do that? Or don't I want to know? ;) Seriously....I hope you feel better soon. Try alternating ice and heat every 15 minutes or so.

When my back is messed up I take 800 mg. of ibuprofen 3 times a day, and I have a muscle relaxer whose name escapes me. The orthopedic surgeon told me to put ice on it, but I can NOT put ice on my back! :scared1: I just use the heating pad on it. I also have an elastic back brace thing with magnets in it. Not sure if the magnets help, but they don't make it worse. :confused3 Call your Dr. tomorrow and see what they suggest.

Good to know. Perhaps DS WILL be sleeping on a pull-out couch!

Nope. I have a top loading Whirlpool. Make sure it has some sort of "cancel" button. My ExBosses have a Bosch, and if you pushed "start" there was NO WAY to interrupt the cycle. Sometimes I would see that I dropped a sock in the hall or whatever but I couldn't open the door to add it. :headache:

honest to god...I don't know...one minute I was fine...and the next I can hardly move

Chocolate covered pineapples....MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!
I wonder if they ever considered a dole whip with chocolate...

I hope you feel better soon! You're trip is almost here...do what Elizabeth says if it's not better soon - call the Dr!

Before I forget....your letter arrived...thanks :)

:rotfl2:Kirsten got a kick out of it....Bill at first was perplexed as to why "stuff was coming out of the envelope"

Thank you, Jennifer!! :goodvibes

Our plan was to buy at Vero Beach because the points are so much cheaper. We could book at 7 mos. for whatever studio was available at WDW and that would be that! BUT...
When I started looking at how much higher the maintenance fee/annual dues are at VB I decided that is probably NOT the way to go. If we pay a bit more per point then that price is what it is. Those annual fees go up every year and would quickly outpace whatever we saved on the point cost.

Right now there really aren't any deals up for resale that fit what we want, so we'll keep watching.

That's what I've generally heard, is that the fees at Vero are outrageous because of the beach, etc. I hope you find something you like. :goodvibes

Hi Elin! I appreciate you keeping an eye out for me :) I read along but just never really have much to say. I hope you guys are having a nice evening! :goodvibes

OK, now I am officially freaked out. The paperwork they sent for the DVC purchase is the most confusing, intimidating pile of paper I have ever seen! :scared: Maybe this is NOT a good idea!

Even though we aren't closing until January we have to pay the down payment in 7 days, OK, I get that. I'm not HAPPY about it, but I get it. But what if we don't qualify for the financing? Shouldn't we get the loan approval FIRST? I just don't understand and now I am scared of the process.

Look at it as a real estate transaction....when I write up a contract, I still take the down payment at that point. The contract is contingent on your ability to obtain financing...the funds will just sit in an escrow account. Although, intimidating...it is standard procedure.

Well I had a very nice Mom's day. I got some cute homemade gifts that the kids made in school, a necklace that Bob helped the kids get, and tix to The Lion King at the Kennedy Center in July. Then we went out to dinner. It is pooring here, so we sat inside all day and I showed Bob and the kids Anne Marie's pictures and TR. Bob then went to DCL's website and downloaded the e-brochure. We sat around watching the ad videos for the cruise. The kids want to go, I want to go and I think Bob is interested too!
