DDA Chapter 7

Catch you all later! I've got to go see how damp the backyard is and whether I'm mowing this morning or after Phil's appt. Plus, my dad's up to something. He told me last night that he needed Phil and I both home, awake, alert and 7:30 tonight. I said we'd be here unless Phil was still under the influence of sedatives. He jokingly said that was fine so long as I drug him out of bed and put clothes on him. :confused3 No idea, but I'm a little intrigued. With him, who knows. Could be big, could be he wants us to see some ad he typed up. :rotfl:

Ok I am signing off now, talk to you all soon!

I just realized.....tomorrow I get to make my Dec. ressies!

YAY! :yay:

Kristine - Are you still around? Have you left yet? I hope I didn't miss you.

I am pretty sure they haven't left yet. I sent Kristine a PM over the weekend but she hasn't replied. :confused3

So we're headed to the hospital today for Phil's endoscopy. Hopefully they can confirm a (minor) ulcer and since the medicine is helping already we'll be on the way to healing without anything further. He's feeling better too so that's good. The weakness seems to be subsiding. Now if he can just make it through work (or partial day as I'll pick him up at 1pm) without having eaten since his midnight cutoff.

I hope Phil's procedure goes smoothly! :wizard:

Yeah, too bad I'm not a fitness guru.

They sure are adding A LOT of run/race/whatever events. What, are there 4 or 5 different ones now? Uncle2 is an avid runner and wants to do the half marathon at DL over Labor Day. He saw an ad for it in a magazine. I might be interested in that sort of event at some point, but not just now.

Robyn - Yikes! I hope you are feeling better and you can enjoy your play date!

I popped in my Disney Store since I was out running errands this morning. Now I am getting sad. :guilty:
I met the "liquidator" guy. Apparently (and I am not sure I really comprehend this) the stores NOT taken back by Disney are now being run by a third party liquidator who works with the bankruptcy court. This guy I met works for that company, and it is his job to guide the stores through closing.
They are putting up these HORRIBLE, tacky little signs with the "sale" prices. When I worked retail a handwritten sign was absolute taboo, so those signs just look so cheap and horrible to me.
Turns out we are losing 3 stores instead of just 2. That leaves 3, but I am still sad. I will miss the CMs at "my" store.
Pins are 10% off right now, which means they are still too expensive for trading. And all sales are final, so I better not buy anything that might be the wrong size.

I'm still around...

We leave on May 31.

Been unusually busy lately....I hadn't had a closing in months...now I have several all back to back...each one is a little crazier than the previous one.

I am beginning to think that I am preparing for the second coming of Christ as this trip is taking on a life of it's own. For the first time ever...I am thinking of renting a car while there :scared1: It seems like a strange concept for me....our cost for using the town-car service: (back and forth to the airport, the cruise, sea world & universal, etc.) is $450...to have an SUV the whole time is $442....so it would seem to make sense.

Other than that, I hosted Bill's side of the family for dinner this past weekend...I am still cleaning up from the festivities. Here's a pic...

Hang in there everyone...good thoughts to those in need....

BTW...if anyone is planning on going to the Kennedy Space Center....make sure you contact your Congressman/woman. They will get you admission into the complex. I just got confirmation email that they covered admission and a couple of other things for all 5 of us!! That's worth about $200 so I was excited

I was thinking of you recently Elin....the Titanic dinner party was great fun...the wine was sure flowing....very enjoyable

Good to see you, Kristine! sounds like you are B U S Y!!

I was just coming to post about this. This is the week we are always at Disney. I just had to go tell Chuck about it. I better make up my mind soon but I would really like to do this. It is just the motivation I need to get in shape. My best friend and I have talked about training for a marathon. I could do this 1/2 marathon in 2009 and then sign up for the full in January of 2010.

Elizabeth, when they get to be decent prices, would you be willing to pick some up for me, if you don't get them all for yourself? :lmao:

I read that somewhere on the DIS just before we left so it was too late. I wish I had known that sooner as enjoyable as it was it was not worth $200+ for the day.

How cool is THAT? Glad to see you popping in for a bit! :goodvibes

I will tell you, I don't know if there will be any left by the time the prices get good! But if there are I will share with you. The problem right now is that the least expensive pins are $5.50. The rest are $9.50. That's for a single pin. They have one set of 3 but the pins are HUGE. Like 3" around. They could almost double as dinner plates! My goal is to get some of the SMALL pins that are $5.50 when they go 50% off. Our trader bags weigh close to 2 lbs. each, so there is no way I am buying any big, heavy pins.
Oh, and the stores that are closing will NOT honor the 15% AP discount, so I must plot the use of my ONE 15% off coupon carefully!
