DDA Chapter 25

This has NOT been a good day here. I went to my great aunts funeral, she was 92, but it was still difficult to see her family so upset. Somehow the 8th Grade parents have gotten into a pissing fight with the school. because we raised "extra" money they keep trying to spend it on things that we find ridiculous. We have 33 kids and need to order 75 class t-shirts as every upper level teacher, aid, specials teacher, janitor, secretary, etc needs to have one as it is "tradition". One of the parent's would like to take the grad dance photos for free, but we need to hire this high school kid that did it last year as we "don't want to lose him for future years" to the tune of $350. The advisor would like us to buy the woman that does the yearbook at $250 Kohls card for her volunteer time, but it isn't just for the 8th grade it's the whole school and why should one volunteer be more important than the dozens of others that give 100s of hours. Ugh

Nick did win his game so they continued the undefeated streak :cool1:

We came home to draw baths and have no hot water. The furnace won't run. I sent the boys to shower at my brother's house and we'll see when we can get an appointment to have the furnace cleaned. We aren't going to do an emergency call as we don't need heat and we could fire up the wood furnace. I will more than likely just shower in the camper.

I also got up to tuck Colby in during all this crap and drove my leg into the corner of a table @#?*@

Happy Anniversary, Glynis and Alan!!

Bernadette - I am so glad you found a doctor you are happy with.

Tough day and evening for you, Deb. I am sorry.

Deb - Sounds like a tough day! I hope you can work things out with the school.

Elin - Yeah for more recitals down!

We just had a tornado warning, thankfully it has ended, but the severe thunder storms remain. Of course I feel the need to monitor the situation in case I need to wake everyone else up

Hope it all passes quickly so that you can go to bed. We had a nasty run of storm this evening, but thankfully it was short-lived and then completely clear. Guess Phil isn't mowing tomorrow though as we easily got 2 inches in that 30 min span.

Good morning. :)

I get to chaperone Alyssa's field trip to Wakefield, the birthplace of George Washington, today. When I sign up for these things it always sounds like a good idea at the time. Then when the day arrives I'd much rather stay home and get things done around here. Oh well, it makes her happy and that's what matters. Unfortunately it's going to be HOT today. Hopefully it won't storm.

Deb - I hope today is better for you.

Joe is reading the narration for Carousel of Progress to the girls and singing the song between each "act".:rotfl:

How cute! I love Carousel of Progress. Thankfully, Laura and Miles do, too. We must have done it at least 6 times on the last trip.

Deb, sorry you had such a bad night. I have come to abhor school politics. I guess I'm getting old and lazy, because I just stay out of most of it now. I still volunteer some but not like when the older two were younger.

Elin, yay for more recitals accomplished!

Tammi, I know just how you feel. I'm signed up to go to the 5th grade class picnic in June, and I'm already begin to realize that I'd much rather not go. I know that it's important to Miles, though.

In addition to the oil change and recall fixes on my car, I needed the 60,000 mile maintenance package and new front brake pads (and resurfacing of the rotors). Egads, I can't afford to maintain a car! I think I need to find a job with more hours.

Speaking of jobs, Matthew may finally have something. It's not easy to find a summer job now, but he went for an interview at Family Dollar and came away with the impression that the job is his as long as he passes the drug test. Now to get Laura moving on getting her updated working papers and filling out applications.

I love my new phone! I can Dis while 55 2nd graders yell all around me.

I know, isn't it cool. I have downloaded bubble burst and play that game when I'm bored :rotfl: Love having the weather channel at my fingertips too.

Good morning everyone :)

Tammi hope you have a fun time today!

Beth good luck to Matthew, hope he gets the job.

Debbie maybe you should ask Rich to help, as long as he doesn't leave worse nicks :rolleyes1 Hopefully your pt will make a difference soon :wizard:

Bernadette sounds like you found a great Dr. :thumbsup2

Debbie I hope today is better for you & that you have hot water soon

Becky thanks for posting pictures on FB, I really enjoyed them.

Elin yay for getting a room discount for the date you needed!

Glynis Happy Belated Anniversary, Hope Timothy is feeling better today :wizard:

Tonight is Riley's 8th grade recognition. I am feeling sorta sad today as now both my babies(yep I will always consider them my babies)will be in High School. Riley is definetly having a growth spurt & somehow became as tall as me & he is voice is changing big time! I keep telling him I am going to put books on his head so he will not grow anymore :rotfl: I don't know just seems life is happening to fast anymore.

Garrett has a steady girlfriend now & she is really sweet. She lives in another town, so basically they only see each other on weekends, but chat online & on the phone constantly lol

School will be out next week, let the summer fun begin!

I know. How did our kids grow up, and we didn't?;) Nick had his big growth spurt about a year ago with the whole voice change. He is several inches taller than me now. He also has a girlfriend. It's new, but her Dad took her to his game last night and then they went out for ice cream. I think they're doing a movie this weekend. She'll be attending the Grad Dance with him although she'll be late as she has a dance recital earlier that evening.

I am so not ready for all of this...(kids getting older, dating etc) :sad2:

It does go by so fast...feels like such a short time ago I had 3 kids in strollers. Could someone stop pressing the "fast forward" button???? :rotfl2:

Janet and Deb-welcome to my world:eek: Abi is now just shy of 6 ft. so I have to reach up to kiss her...though she still thinks boys are icky:woohoo: I blinked and my children have grown up...thankfully I didn't:rotfl:

Hi, everyone! Thanks for the anniversary wishes. Alan and I had an interesting day yesterday! It all started out fine. We got the kids off to school, cleaned out the van, took it for an oil change, etc. Then we put Timothy into Alan's car and we all headed for Salt Lake to do the main portion of errands for the day. We had a list of stuff that we needed to accomplish, and only yesterday to do it.

We got through half the list, and were in the grocery store, when Timothy started to fuss. He normally doesn't do that, so that got me a bit concerned. I felt his head and he was burning up. No warning, just like that! I left Alan to finish the shopping, and took Timothy out to the car to get some ibuprofen in him. No sooner had I strapped him into his car seat, and got a dose of medicine in him than he threw up. ALL OVER THE CAR SEAT, HIMSELF AND ME! Talk about ick!!! Poor little guy!

I cleaned him up as best I could with wipes, and we waited for Alan to come out of the store. By this time, it was about 4:00 in the afternoon, so we decided to just head home, and try to get the rest of the list done today. Timothy threw up one more time, and then fell asleep on the drive home. When we got home, we got him in the tub, the car seat stripped and in the wash, and we settled in to figure out what to do with the evening.

Alan wanted to go out to dinner, but I was leery about leaving Timothy. So, we compromised. I told Alan that while we waited to see how Timothy was going to do, I would take my first attempt at my final exam. When I was done, we'd decide what to do. Alan didn't want me to ruin our anniversary by taking the test, but I told him I really had to, as I HAD to finish up the class before we left town for a week!

Timothy seemed to do much better, and actually went to bed without a fuss. I took my test, and felt pretty good about it. I checked my score, and found out that I got an 81%. I needed a 70% to pass, so I was thrilled! I decided that I didn't need to take the test again, as I was happy with my 81! Alan and I went to Carrabba's Italian Grill to celebrate the anniversary and the end of my class. It was a good meal, and we had a great, relaxing time. Katie did call us once, to let us know that Timothy had woken up, was burning up, and crying. We told her how much medicine to give him, and she did it like a champ. He went right back to sleep.

We came home, found all well here, and got ourselves ready for bed. At about midnight, we heard a horrible crash, and we scrambled out of bed to see what had happened. I thought for sure that a tree had fallen through the boy's window. However, it was the mirror on the wall of the bathroom. The glue gave way, and it crashed to the floor! Talk about a mess!

Anyway, that was my day. Today, I'm doing laundry, packing, and arranging everything so we can take off tomorrow morning. I'll be in and out all day today, and then off we go! We should be back by the 8th of June, so until I get back, you all have a wonderful time!!!
