Anne Marie-LOVE all your photos!!!!

So cool that you got to go into MK at 7am.

Deb-hope Hunter is feeling better & that the carnival went well!:wizard:

Thanks for sharing the pictures here, Anne Marie. I just got done showing them to Nicholas. We are so excited for our cruise!

Bernadette - Bob is in the market for a dslr camera. What is the one that you have? He is torn between a Canon and a Nikon that he has found.

We are home. Our visit with my parents was very nice, but it's also nice to be home in the peace and quiet. ;)

Thanks!! It was so nice, we had the place to ourselves (relatively) until about 10am!!!:thumbsup2 We rode Space Mountain 3 times, walked on Dumbo & everything in Fantasyland & BTM... All before lunch. :yay: I was so prepared for massive crowds but it really wasn't bad at all. Everyone said never go to MK on Easter but we did & it was no worse than summer which was fine for us.

I have a Nikon D90. I don't know much about Canons but I'm sure they are great too. The somewhat new Nikon-I think D5000-is relatively cheap but there is something I didn't like about it but I'm not sure now what it was. Which Nikon is he looking at?

I bought the 18-200 VR lens with the camera. I use that almost exclusively. I also have a 35mm lens.

I also have a flash (SB 600 maybe-not exactly sure...). That was well worth the cost! I find the on board flash (which is quite good) puts a shadow on the photo when I use it with the 18-200 lens.

One thing I have been surprised about on the Nikon is the battery life. I have a backup battery but with all the photos I take-sometimes over 500 in a day-I don't recall ever having used more than 1 battery in a day. On my old Sony I would sometimes use 3 sets of batteries in a single day.

I thought when I bought the Nikon it would be a burden to carry the camera around. I have not found it too bad but I have found having to think about how to use the camera more of a burden than I expected.

Some points from last week is anyone is interested.

Wonder was great!! Everything perfect..can't say enough good things about it.

Poly CL was dissapointing. CM's were crabby & unhelpful. One in the lounge was downright rude..she told a guest that he had "7 minutes" to get his dessert & then she was closing up. So not Disney-like at all. Desserts were pidley. Breakfast was 3 of the same thing every morning & when they ran out, they ran out. If we stayed at the Poly again (which I do not think we will) we would get a regular non club level room..totally not worth it. BWI & BC CL sooooooooooo much better in every way.

Transport from Poly to MK & Epcot are worth staying their alone. Travel time to MK via the boat was less than 10 minutes, Epcot maybe 15 at most. Watching Wishes from the lounge/beach was great..no trying to get out of MK with everyone else.

Crowds...what crowds??? It was very manageable if you had a plan. We saw lots of first timers like on HM, Katie & I walked into the 1st room & then when the doors to the streching room opened she & I went in & everyone else stood their until the CM's said to go into the room. LOL!

Easter - We went to mass at the CR. It was very nice. The Easter bunny left some half eaten carrots by the pool.;)

Dining - Hoop dee doo review was the absolute best dinner we had. So much food & fun!!! Citricos was the least fun. Not bad, just blah. Server was just serving & the food was nothing spectacular. California Grill was so much better. We had dressed for dinner (this was on Easter day) & there were people in cut off jean shorts, & tees! Not what I was expecting. Le Cellier was delicious. We had breakfast with Pooh & dinner at R&C which was also great.

Hunter went to school today and so did I. I subbed all day then spent the afternoon and evening working on the setup for the Carnival/basket raffle. We got a lot done so hopefully we can finish up in the 3 hours we have tomorrow before the Carnival starts. The good news is that we presold enough tickets to cover all of our costs. Tomorrow is all profit and I'm praying for a big one :wizard:

I need to send out a few reminder emails then go to sleep.

He is looking at the Nikon D5000. He says the D90 is out of his price range. He's also looking at the Canon XSI. Thanks for the info! And if you remember what it was about the 5000 that you didn't like, please let me know!

Deb glad Hunter is finally feeling better. Good luck with the Carnival tomorrow.

The D5000 doesn't have a motor to focus the lens so you are limited to lenses that have a focus motor built into them.

I don't know anything about the Canons.

Good Morning :)

I'll be able to spend a bit more time here after today, and I'm sure I'll be a much less stressed woman:thumbsup2

Tammi - I think Jennifer (Tink2020) has a Canon.

Deb - I hope today is relatively stress-free for you and tons of money is made!!

I have dress rehearsal this morning and then our grass needs to be mowed again. You can't even tell I did it last weekend! :headache: What I really want to do this afternoon is to go to Richmond to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden but I am not certain I can fit it all in!

Tomorrow I have three students playing in a regional recital and then our final Singers concert of the season. We are performing Faure's Requiem which is one of my favorites.

Elizabeth... don't read this... I need to start packing. I have piles of things on the bed in the back room and my suitcase is sitting open, but I just know if I commit myself to certain clothes the weather won't cooperate! :rotfl2: The two days of the long-range forecast I can see on accuweather shows partly sunny and highs in the mid 80s. I would love if that were certain! But, we all know how much that can change.

Good morning. :)

Deb - I hope today is profitable for you!

Bernadette - thanks again for the camera info.

Elin - my grass needs to be mowed too. Not looking forward to it!

I think it was Glynis who asked to see some pictures, so you can blame her. ;)

I take one of the kids next to this bunny every year. I'll have to dig out their baby pictures and compare.

I was really surprised at how they've built up the Pittsburgh Zoo. Before we got there I made a disclaimer to the kids that this wasn't Disney World and not to expect much (isn't it funny how we compare everything to the way Disney does it?) but I was really surprised. There were lots of different animals to see, and they were all very active. Most of these pictures were taken from behind glass, but I'm pleased with how they turned out.

This gorilla was funny. Everytime another gorilla would come near him he would pick up all his toys and food and move somewhere else. He was very stingy.
