I feel your pain, Anne-Marie. We have a snow day here too. Yesterday they were already off for a teacher workday, but they should be in school today. Yes, there is melting and refreezing at night, so I would understnad a 2hr delay. But they have to wait until every piece of ice is off of the road. The side streets are still dicey, but not by any means impassable or treacherous. Drivers just need to use some caution and common sense, neither of which seems to be a commodity these days. This wouldn't irritate me so badly if our school system was not trying to push the start of school up to the week before Labor Day. Their reasoning.....because that will give students 5 more days of prep before the SOLs. Hello!!! SOLs are in May. If they haven't gotten it in 8 months of instructions, they won't get it with 5 additional days!!!! How about not canceling school at the drop of a snowflake?! Then we would have 5 additional days!!!!! Sorry. Vent over.
Plus, we are supposed to get another inch of stuff tonight, so I'm sure that means school will be canceled tomorrow. And more stuff coming this weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't go back before next week.
