DDA Chapter 24

Tammi, I am sorry Ricardo wasn't at Yachtsman that night! I really do think the server makes the meal. Your waitress sounds like the guy we had at Narcoosee's on my birthday. At Yachtsman I had a personalized menu, and a little birthday cupcake. At Narcoosee's the waiter said (as a complete afterthought) "It's your birthday, right?"

I am glad to hear your food was good, because we definitely hit it on a bad night in December.
You are absolutely right. The food wasn't any better at Citrico's or FF, but our servers were outstanding. Their personalities are what is most memorable about those meals.

Tammi, looks like your birthday was grand!:hippie:

Jen, sorry about the game.:grouphug::grouphug:

I hate to even ask, but does this mean the Cowboys did not make it(I am assuming they lost todays game)?

DH is actually pleased that the Cowboys got stomped today. His workload has been kind of hectic, and he hasn't been able to get any additional support from his supervisor to cover the things that need to be covered. So the loss was a good thing from his point of view. He will still sell a ton of chips for Super Bowl.

Can I just say how much I hate National History Day? I may hate it ALMOST as much as science fair. It is very, very close. Do you guys know how long it takes to write a paper with 1500 words? No? Neither do I, because we got to 1453 and gave up. It took us 9 hours to get that far. It took DS an hour to write ONE paragraph. Then we had to do an ANNOTATED bibliography. Then we had to do a "process paper". Since DS has never had to do an NHD project before I don't even know if he will get a passing grade on it. There is quite a bit of room for interpretation.

Jen, I am forever in your debt for telling me about Easy Bib. It has a little thing to click to add an annotation. I wasn't sure how we were going to do that. I think annotations are stupid. But whatever. We were also supposed to list primary and secondary sources, but they are all lumped together. I mean COME ON!!! It's not like DS had a personal interview with a drummer from Africa in 2000 BC. I am pretty sure all of his sources were secondary.

That website saved me so many times in college. I remember when I learned about it from someone in class and wish I had known about it earlier!

It has been a long day. I spent most of the day sorting through totes of clothes in the basement. I think I've gotten through most of them. I have bags of clothes for good will, a huge box for my cousin's little boy and 2 totes for my nephew (he can wear the slims that Hunter grew out of and Colby never will be able too). I also have a pile of other items for good will. Hopefully something will be open tomorrow as I need to remove that stuff to gain room to work. I also have a bunch of metal shelving and an old dryer that needs to go to the scrap metal guy. Chris and I spent another hour and half down there after I got home from work tonight. I might be able to finish tomorrow (I have to be at work at 4 PM) otherwise I will be done on Tuesday.

A quick hi! :wave2: Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Our church mission team is home safely. It was so wonderful to see so many of them this morning, and many are already planning their return to Haiti. I am surrounded daily by some amazing people! :lovestruc

Great pictures, Tammi. That parade is a "must do" for me, every trip to WDW!

I need more time!!!:scared1:

We got the Christmas tree down today but the ornaments and my Santas aren't all packed up. At least I could get to the desk I've been using for sewing.

I made Emma's birthday cupcake dress. It is really cute and she LOVES it! She keeps telling me how much she loves me. I don't know if its because she loves her dress so much, is so excited about the trip, or she just wants me to finish the rest of her outfits. I got her safari shirt all cut out and a good bit done. I've ironed fabric for her safari PJs. And I still hope to make her a little quilted jacket (using a sweatshirt as a base) to go with her birthday dress. And I would like to make myself a Mickey head T to match Emma's safari shirt.

I do have all her clothes and the majority of mine set aside in a laundry basket.

I still haven't figured out how I'm getting to the airport.

OH and I have a TON of work to do at work on Tuesday. And I have to vote on Tuesday in the special election to fill Ted Kennedy's senate seat. I can't wait for that to be over. There are a million nasty ads on TV and we've received at least a dozen automated phone calls.

Tammi-love your parade photos! How cool that you got to do that on your birthday!!!! Love your warthog photos too. Those must be new to the lodge-I don't remember them from last year.

Good morning. :)

No holiday for me. I mean, well, it IS a holiday, but I'm working. Which means holiday pay! YAY!

Bernadette - I hope you can get everything done that you want to get done, without too much stress.

Elizabeth - I didn't even know there was a NHD.

Bernadette, sounds like you are making some progress! I am sure the trip will be great!

Tammi, if there is any sort of ridiculous project out there, our teachers will find it and it will count for like 87% of the grade for the marking period. This looks like it is only 6th grade an up, so you have awhile before it will be dropped in your lap. Rumor has it the next project is some sort of food thing where he has to research the history of a food, then MAKE THE FOOD and serve it to the class. Just shoot me. I hope the teacher will be enthralled by the history of Pop Tarts.

Nicholas has decided that he is going to do his science fair project on how/does heat affect the germination of seeds. He will have a control group of seeds, 3 groups that he microwaves for 10, 20 and 30 secs, and then another 3 groups that he will bake for 10, 20 and 30 minutes, and the chart the growth of all the groups.

Tammi your pictures are just making me more excited for this trip. Thanks!

Good morning! I work today too, but no holiday pay. :(

I didn't know about NHD either.

Tammi, how fun about the parade. Some day I would love to do that

Ok, I'm having trouble finding what NHD is. Can someone enlighten me so I can stop feeling silly? :lmao:
