DDA Chapter 23

Hmm. Not sure I am digging the volunteer thing. I will look at the list when they finally publish it, and if they have something listed that I was going to volunteer for ANYWAY, then I might do it.

The thing is, the majority of stuff I volunteer for is in October. If the ticket isn't valid past the end of 2010 then it's not going to do me any good. If the ticket doesn't expire then I would give it more thought.

On the whole "What Will You Celebrate" just doesn't do much for me. Yes, the gift card on my birthday was handy. But as of now we don't plan to be there for any birthdays next year. So the theme falls kind of flat. I mean, we can celebrate something else, but we will be PAYING for whatever we choose to do for our celebration!

I need a cheap silver or black dress purse...what store? Nothing at Jc Penny

2nd hand store

JcPenney on-line with delivery to store.

Borrow from a DDA friend's daughter who hoardes purses:rolleyes1

Kristine glad to hear noting major happened.

Well the winds are back today, now I wonder if it was the wind or an airplane earlier? If it was an airplane, then it was extremely low, of course they seem to be flying real low lately for some reason.

Found a purse...and some shoes. Now if I get her seal of approval I will be happy :rotfl:

I am so proud of my little man. Today was the first day of robotics. He got a ride home after, and was here about 1/2 before I got home. He was at the kitchen table, working on his homework. When I came in and saw him, it was like my little boy had disappeared and was replaced with a young man. In the 3 weeks of school he has shown such responsibility, when it comes to school work, being organized, and keeping track of his assignments and what needs to be done. Hopefully it's not a fluke and that it continues. I showered him with praise about how responsible he has been lately, so hopefully that was positive reinforcement.

Impressive! Way to go, Nicholas!

I have the guy coming to clean my carpets, so I need to get in the shower before I take DS to school. I am so not in that routine anymore! I don't know how late I have to work today, either.

In other news, the company Dadboss works for has been bought out. :scared: Not sure what that means for him. Or me. Hopefully nothing.

Hope the carpet guy showed up early enough. :wizard: that Dadboss' buyout doesn't mean anything for either one of you.

Looks like all day rain here. That means:

1. Not getting to go on the playground at preschool
2. Standing in the rain to watch cross country
3. Muddy, wet shoes and spikes
4. Muddy, wet uniform
5. Muddy, wet runners in my car
6. No sun :sad2:

One big YUCK!!! Hope it clears out at least some so you don't get rained on watching.

Have you heard of this yet?

Maybe it's just me being cynical, but Disney is slowly becoming too politically correct for me.

In theory, at least, I like it. In the end, it would depend on what the actual opportunities are when they are released. From the healping hands site it looks like United Way is the primary one around here so that could mean a lot of things. Personally, though, I'm all for anything that encourages people to volunteer and be actively helpful in their communities. I just hope they have a good mix of volunteer projects that will be meaningful to all ages.

I agree, Tia. I don't have a problem encouraging people to volunteer. Most of "us" do so anyway. But they will need to have that list cover a very broad range, I think.

I do know that people are already squawking about the fact that ACORN seems to be on the list. I can't say that is a fact as I haven't looked at anything yet. I feel that the initial list was already populated before all the brouhaha concerning that organization. I think it will be tweaked as needed.

Apparently I got a "he ll uva" good deal on my AP rate for our Christmas trip. I am quoting a friend who was checking AP rates for our time frame. So, the new Buy 4, Get 3 promotion won't do us any good at all.

If anyone is on the AP site, would you mind looking for the rate that comes up for December 19-24 at POFQ?

I hadn't heard about this. I think it could be a wonderful incentive for people to get out an help their communities. We volunteer quite a bit anyway so it would be nice to get a little Disney perk out of the time we would donate anyway.

No....he just turned 16....and the parents are nervous. So they are delivering him to me....where all of us will take pictures of the 2....and then I will go drop them off. The mother and I went to high school together.....she said to me last night that she gave Alex the "no sex talk" I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry. Bill cried :rotfl2:

:scared1::rotfl:

I'm so not looking forward to those days!

I'm thinking and looking at buying a new vehicle. I was telling Bob this morning that whatever I buy now will probably be Nicholas' vehicle in the future!

Nick turns 14 today and Chris has already started looking for the "perfect" car for him. Hopefully he'll find something in the next 2 years :lmao:

God I hope so....Jonathan gave me a run for my money. He was sooooo bad in the beginning. I used to do deep breathing and visualization (of living)

I'm hoping that our kids will be okay behind the wheel. They've been on the lawn mowers and 4 wheelers since they were little and we let them drive the yard truck at camp so maybe I won't be white knuckled when they start.

I got my first paycheck of this school year and was delighted to see I received a nice raise and also a bonus. :) The raise isn't enough to offset Bob's salary cut, but it will definitely help out a lot. The bonus will make for a very nice dinner at Flying Fish next week! :teeth:

:cool1::cool1: Wow, it's nice to read some good news in the work world :cool1::cool1::cool1:

This morning was not fun getting up, but I managed and then got a nice nap in. Now I'm going to pick up the boys at school and we'll go pick up a couple of dvds for tonight and a few snacks. Hopefully Nick will have a friend or two tonight. One friend should be here, but the second didn't think he could come. I did suggest that Nick could invite a couple of other friends to come over to watch movies and we could take them home afterwards. We'll see how it all shakes out later.

Deb-

Wish Nick a very Happy Birthday!!!

(he is almost exactly 6 months older than Abi) Ay yi yi!! All of our kids are getting old...who told them they could??

$866 for a water view (154/night) or $698 for a standard view (124/night).
