Are you going to SixFlags? We're going to SixFlags NE on Saturday. The kids are excited to do the water park.

I hope you all have fun at MouseFest:thumbsup2

It is Friday for me too. And tomorrow I leave for MagicMeets. Without going into a long story, I am going alone. Bob backed out at the last minute and my feelings are hurt. Remember last month when everyone was commenting on the two of us making it through 36 years of wedded bliss and I said something along the lines of "it isn't always easy" ??? Well, this is one of those times.

The upside of this turn of events is that I get to spend two days with Terry and Stephanie and Becky and Penny (chaoscent!). So that will be a very nice time for all of us without men clogging up the works. :rotfl2:

I am sorry about Bob, but I have a feeling that those 4 will keep you occupied quite nicely.

Clare-so glad to see you over here:goodvibesI hope you come back more often, then I would have somebody posting at the same time as me. :rotfl:

Tammi....

Like Deb, we got to TL at opening. We chose chairs near the wave pool because they really liked to do this throughout the day. We went to the sharks first....that gets bogged down quickly. Kirsten hated this attraction. She got into the water...and then said, "you mean there's real fish in this water" She immediately got up and just left.

Did the slides next....as the day wore on, these got more crowded. We were there about 6 hours :scared1::scared1: They really enjoyed it.

Well, my mom took me today to buy any DSLR I wanted!!!This was me on the Light Rail , me at Wolf Camera:yay::eek::woohoo: and me now:upsidedow

That is so great, Theresa!!! I hope you enjoy the marketing class. I think this is all a great idea for you!

Hi, DDA!
Long time, no talk. I hope everyone is doing well - I have thought of each of you quite often over the past couple of months, and pray that everyone is having a good summer. I imagine there are quite a few either at WDW right now, or getting ready to leave - I hope you're having/will have a fantastic time! :goodvibes

Lindsay - It's so good to see you! I wish things were going a little smoother for you, but I know your little man's just going to stay put and bake (and turn!!) for another few weeks. Take it easy and come visit while you're resting!

So my sister wanted her kids back yesterday.:sad1: My mom picked them up and took them home. Lots of weird things going on over there. I can only pray that the wheels that have been set into motion start to turn quickly because those kids are not in a healthy/safe environment. It breaks my heart that there is not a thing I can do until it gets to the point where it's almost too late. I had a talk with Emma & Alyssa (I talked to both of them together so neither one would feel like I was singling them out) the other day and told them that I am here for them whenever they need me. All they had to do was tell me what is bothering them and while I can't promise to fix anything, I will try by best to make it better.

:grouphug: Continued prayers and :wizard: for the whole situation. I hope you're able to find some relaxing moments in there for your own sanity and health as well.

Riley had an eye Dr. appointment yesterday. His prescription reading glasses were getting to be to small & he has been having some bad headaches, I thought the glasses were the problem. Well somehow between his last visit(2 years ago, yes I am bad)his eye sight has gotten better & he no longer needs glasses. While this makes me very happy it also makes me wonder how :confused3 He does have allergies in his eyes & I guess this explains why lately he always looks like he has just gotten out of a pool with a lot of chlorine in it. So we now have a prescription for that. Now I need to make an appointment with our regular Dr. as I am thinking Riley might be having migraines.

My eyes have done that a few times over the years. I've used reading glasses probably over 4 periods of time since 1st grade. I would say I needed them for a year or two and then my eyes would correct themselves for a few years. Later, I'd need them again for awhile, etc.

Thanks! I have feelers out to another preschool. Think any retail place would even look at me for part time hours that don't include weekends (or Tuesdays/Thursdays)? I can't give up cross country meets in the fall, and there will be several synchro weekends to plan around Jan-June.

I think there are plenty of retailers who will hire moms for daytime. They've got lots of teenagers looking for nights and weekends, but once the college kids go back to school they are short daytime workers.

I am with Elin....I miss the ones who have moved almost over exclusively to Facebook....I use Facebook for the superficial updates of my life...or the ones when I just need to go ARRRRGH!! I have friends over there that know what is going on at home that don't come over here...I know it's a strange thought...friends outside of the DDA:rotfl2:. But I also update over there with stuff that would bore you all to death (like band parent specific stuff)....and you get the full story over here.

I've noticed though that the ones who are missing here are also pretty MIA over there.

Ditto here! I like my Facebook, but that's for a different set of friends almost. The DDA has it's home so I like to visit it there. Facebook is more my spread out friends - high school, college, church, playgroups that I like to keep up with from time to time. Oddly enough, a good 1/3 of my posts are more directly related to my sisters whom I see regularly. Why Kristi and I converse via Facebook when we're together every other day and talk 5x a day, I don't know. Same reason I don't know why Rachel IMs me when I can reach out and touch her. :confused3 :rotfl: Crazy kid!

I'm still alive....I have had major stress in my life for the last month+...I am just now getting back into posting any where.

Often times I find myself posting/answering in my mind....just doesn't seem to make it to my fingers....

Hope things start slowing down for you, Kristine!

She called today and asked all of our sizes....and she's given me gift cards...I am feeling very, very spoiled. :goodvibes

You deserved to be spoiled for a little while, Theresa! I'm glad your Mama's there to do it. :goodvibes:

well hello there strangers! I thought I'd stop by and say hello - I've been chatting away on Facebook but have been so busy that I never seem to have chance to stop by this comfy old spot.

So good to see you too, Clare! I hope you'll send your friend our way and come more often youself as well!

Good Morning,

I don't know how this month got to be so crazy, but I don't see a break until September.

It's August. It's back to school. You work retail. Life always gets busy when we don't expect it. Well, those are my reasons anyway. ;) Hope things slow down a little soon!

I'm so glad that it decided to rain today. It just wouldn't be the same if I had to camp in nice weather.

My Mom's troop has a terrible track record. No matter when they plan for it seems to be unseasonably cold. There have been several trips with lows around 40 even though the normal low is 60, several with rain... I hope things dry out for you soon!

 I'm glad that there is an upside! Dh and I had words last night, because I couldn't get a straight answer on whether he is coming to my parents' this weekend. He claimed that he did say he was going all along and that I'm grumpy. Two of my three confirmed that I am grumpy a lot, and the third has enough brains in his head to stay far, far away from the whole thing. (He didn't give me a straight answer all along, by the way, but we're passed it.)

If it helps, Beth and Elin, it actually helps to know that more experienced couples still have their moments too. Sometimes, I feel like it's just me or just us or just because I'm so young. I'd have to admit I'd rather they went away by the time you've been together 5 or 10 years, but it's also helpful not to be alone in a situation. I guess it's the "even though it happens a marriage can be successful/long-lasting" kind of thing. So thanks for sharing the downs as well as the ups.

Are you going to SixFlags? We're going to SixFlags NE on Saturday. The kids are excited to do the water park.

Must be the weekend for it. We're headed to the park tomorrow morning for a little while as well. Kristi has a mandatory meeting for work so we'll only have a couple of hours, but I've got to drop Rachel off out there anyway so I figure we'll squeeze in some rides as well.

Hello DDA! A short MIA this time, but even a couple of days seems like forever away from my friends. Apparently, my life needs to start being run like a business at least as far as emails and phone calls are concerned. I don't get online for 36 hours and I've got 3 hours of catching up to do. A handful of personal things, 15 Girl Scout messages, 20 homeschool messages, feeling out of the loop with friends, etc.

I had back to back meetings for Girl Scouts this week. I'm not sure Terra knew what to do with my being gone two nights in a row. Even more so since Phil wasn't here either. I felt a little bad because I didn't know about last night's training until yesterday morning. Well, I did a six weeks ago, but let it slip my mind and thought there was another option which I was going to do. Now, I've got another training next Wed night as well (the second half of this one) and probably need to fit in a few more since my number of responsibilities seems to be growing quickly. I've loving it though because it's the first time in a long time that I've been excited and involved with something outside of me and my family. I was sitting in the training last night with ideas galore running through my head about how to do that job well (Neighborhood Chair) plus ways to be a better leader this year and other outlets with in Scouts that I want to get involved. Having that passion for something again feels really good.

Of course, that all adds to the list of things I need to do on a daily basis, but I know I have the space for it if I use my time well. I just need to take some time this week and next to get things organized and under control as school gets ready to start. I think that my troop is going to merge with another troop as well, which will be nice. I'm excited about the bigger size and also really like the other leaders, which I think will help since I don't always like my current co-leader. I'm hoping that multiple adults helping and planning will help even out the wide gap between my current co-leader and me. (She's very nice and a wonderful help, we're just total opposites in many ways.)

See, there must be excitement here as I'm starting to ramble and that only happens with a few things. (And yes, Disney trips are one of them. :rotfl: Lord help the person who asks my thoughts on a Disney trip. They'll get more than they bargained for.) They even get to cross paths too - My council person (I think Becky is the same type of position) is a big WDW fan too. We got through my intro stuff for the Chair position pretty quickly and then spent a good 30 minutes talking Disney! :cloud9:

We're off to the pool. We need to pile some wood first, but that shouldn't take too long. I'll try to wash my whites while I'm over there. It would be nice to have it all done.

Deb - have an enjoyable afternoon at the pool! And I hope you get that laundry done. Since Elizabeth is not here, I will ask: "ARE YOU PACKED YET???" ;)

Me again! I need a favour :)

Strange request I know - but can you ask your kids to look at this site: http://disneyfairies.com and tell me three things they would improve about it! Looks good to me but then I'm not really the target audience :rotfl:

Clare

Clare-Abi finds the games boring (but I think she might be out of the target audience also)

I have a job interview....with a driving school!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I already had plans to start the process of getting my license but the interviewer (phone) asked me to say a few things that would make me stand out and get in for the second interview. I told her: I would do anything to get a job, well legally. That made her crack up, I said "There you go, I have a sense of humor":lmao: And then we were talking about the job and what they need from hires...a clean driving record is one of them. :rotfl2:Funny you should mention that....and I gave her the whole long story and told her it was ironic. She said that would be a very clean record. :rotfl2: Yup, that's me, humor and no driving record. :lmao:

:rotfl: I think it bodes well for you, Theresa! Good luck!!

Good luck with the 2nd interview Theresa!

Terry, Stephanie, Elin, & Becky hope you all have a grand time!

Question for those with kids!!! :teeth:

We finally got our mattress on the crib. We have 7 inches from top of mattress to top of crib. Bumper doesn't even fit - it goes higher than the crib by 2 inches (even though we shouldn't even have it on the bed anyways...) I know the baby doesn't move for a while, but still...should we just move it down now and not deal with it later or is it OK where it's at for now?

I can't find anything online regarding crib height standardization - except for when the child can pull themselves up.

Chanon I set the mattress lower.

I'M OFFICIALLY ON VACATION!!!

Thanks for the TL advice, Deb and Kristine. We are never NOT anywhere at park opening, so that won't be an issue. I've already told the kids about the sharks so they are prepared for that. We will hit that first and then the slides.

I think I'm pretty much ready, except for PACKING! Bob borrowed a GPS from a coworker and downloaded the file from mousesavers. I've done my online checkin for both resorts. Tomorro I will do laundry and lay everything out. Even though we don't fly out until Sunday morning, we are leaving here at 2:30 Saturday afternoon to head to the airport hotel. I'm so excited to stay at BLT!!! I wish it were for more than 2 nights.

It is Friday for me too. And tomorrow I leave for MagicMeets. Without going into a long story, I am going alone. Bob backed out at the last minute and my feelings are hurt. I'm so sorry that Bob backed out on you. If I were going to be around I would take his spot. Something tells me you will have more fun with the DDA gang anyway! I hope everything is okay.

Hhmmm.....my mattress was never up that high, so my illegal bumper fit perfectly. :rotfl2: The only problem with moving it down is that you will be breaking your back every time you put baby in and out of the crib. It won't matter much at first, but after awhile it will get tougher. I would say go ahead and try it lower and if it is too difficult you can always move the mattress back up. I know, more work for Bob though.
